On January 23, 2026, Princess Amalia completed the General Military Training (AMO) and was promoted to the rank of corporal. The training is part of the education programme the Princess is undertaking at Defensity College. Now that she has completed the AMO, the Princess will wear a military uniform when working with the Ministry of Defence.
Queen Máxima attended the completion ceremony at the Ministry of Defence in Ermelo. Previously, King Willem-Alexander appointed Princess Amalia to the reserve personnel of the Armed Forces. Princess Amalia performs her duties on an unpaid basis, and her study time is regarded as private. Defensity College aims to offer students a meaningful part-time job alongside their studies, while increasing visibility and strengthening the connection between the Armed Forces and society.

حذفIn the Dutch (NL) websites about Queen Maxima (and also CP Amalia) they said that she studied at the university to obtain a bachelor in Dutch Civil Rights and if she wants she can continue at the same time her training to become an higher degree at the Defensity college.
As I understand it, she has graduated. She submitted some course work a bit later due to her broken arm.

حذفSommige hebben nog steeds niet begrepen dat CP Amalia dit niet had moeten doen als ze niet wou. In landen waar de koning opperbevelhebber van het leger is, is het de gewoonte/traditie dat de kroonprins of kroonprinses ook legerdienst doet (België, Spanje, Noorwegen, Denemarken, .....) In landen zoals Nederland waar de koning geen opperbevelhebber van het leger is, is de kroonprinses niet verplicht legerdienst te doen. Koning Willem Alexander (toen nog Prins) heeft wel legerdienst gedaan zoals de meeste andere mannelijke Nederlanders. Alle vrouwelijke troonopvolgers zoals zijn moeder Prinses Beatrix, grootmoeder Prinses Juliana, enz... hebben volgens mij nooit legerdienst gedaan. Vrouwen en zeker geen prinsessen deden in die tijd nog geen legerdienst. Als de Nederlandse prinsessen van tegenwoordig legerdienst wensen te doen dan kan dat denk ik, vooral met dat nieuwe programma van Defensity college.

حذفYes practice is important, but first you have to obtain a good basic education like a bachelor - followed by a master diploma in a subject which interest you. CP often choose Political sciences, law, history, social sciences, etc...
