On January 20, 2026, Queen Mathilde of Belgium celebrates her 53rd birthday. To mark the occasion, the Royal House of Belgium released new photographs of the Queen. The images were taken during the state visit to Chile in 2025. Queen Mathilde has four children: Crown Princess Elisabeth, Prince Gabriel, Prince Emmanuel, and Princess Eleonore.

ReplyDeleteThere are always people who cannot appreciate the art of photography. I remember when they were taken. During the state visit to Chile last year they had to wait for the plane which had technical problems.These pictures have been taken at an altitude of around 3000 meter when the sun went down spreading an orange light. There are also pictures taken together with King Philippe during that extraordinary light of the sundown. I can imagine she will hang some of these pictures up in their home at the Castle of Laeken. I know I would, if someone made such beautiful pictures of me and my husband.

ReplyDeleteThese pictures were not taken in the 1st place as official portraits. They were just taken by the photographers who accompanied them on the state visit to Chile in June 2025. Afterwards they are chosen to mark her 53rd birthday. By the way, at this altitude and with this light of the sun , I think it is not wise to take your sunglasses away.
DeleteI rather prefer these photos to more formal ones. I think they are quite beautiful because they are "in the moment".
