King Frederik and Queen Mary of Denmark are undertaking a two-day state visit to Lithuania at the invitation of Lithuania’s President, Gitanas Nausėda, following their state visit to Estonia. On the evening of 28 January 2026, the King and Queen attended a State Banquet at the Presidential Palace in Vilnius, hosted by President Gitanas Nausėda and First Lady Diana Nausėdienė. Both the King and the President delivered speeches.
For the occasion, Queen Mary wore a cape-detail belted gown by Elie Saab. The Queen also wore the Diamond Necklace Tiara and diamond earrings, together with King Frederik X’s Portrait Order. Queen Mary purchased the tiara in May 2012 from the Bruun Rasmussen auction house in Copenhagen, along with a necklace made of diamonds, rubies, and spinels, mounted in gold and silver, as well as a matching pair of earrings.

Beautiful QM looks elegant, regal, and not over the top. A warm and lovely showing! MR
ReplyDeleteRegal was exactly the word that came to my mind. Lovely outfit
DeleteLovely color on Mary. She looks best in darker, jewel tones.
ReplyDeleteJ’adore la tenue de Mary qui est vraiment élégante. Josée.
ReplyDeleteFabulous in every detail!
ReplyDelete2nd tiara appearance Queen Mary this week! While I'm not the biggest fan of the style of the dress I think for a winter look it's perfect. The burgundy color is beautiful and it matches really well with her diamomd and ruby tiara and earrings.
ReplyDeleteThe cape gown is a little too much cape and not enough gown.
DeleteMrs Cleaver
I have to admit: since becoming Queen, her new look has been hard to get used to. But this gown is stunning, and I respect her commitment to the Royal House... :)
ReplyDeleteHi Bernie, I enjoyed reading your comment. What do you see as Mary’s new look since becoming queen? I haven’t seen a change and am interested in how others view fashion.
Delete@anonymous - since becoming Queen, Mary has worn full sleeved outfits, often with a high neckline. She has dressed ‘modestly’ as a Queen should. But I think she could relax some of her outfits. But that’s just my opinion! It’s nice that no one is stacking me about it though. Thank you! 😊👍
DeleteInteresting observations. You could be right. I just saw her sticking with new fashion trends and also traditional obligations ( court dress for new years sequence of events).
DeleteYes, it's always nice to see her new outfits... :)
DeleteThis rich deep burgundy gown is a glorious color, suits her beautifully. This gown looks very regal and elegant. I love the cape effect over her shoulder, this looks lovely, its different and gives the gown a totally different / individual look. I saw this on YouTube, as she walked the skirt of her gown flowed and moved beautifully. The tiara and earrings look splendid.
ReplyDeleteThe first lady looks beautiful, her gown looks fabulous, lovely shape, it suits her well, love the colors and pattern of this. Her hair is softly styled, natural, suits her perfectly.
Well stated, I agree
DeleteDo you have the link?
DeleteStunning! Gown, accessories and makeup are perfect! Mary looks beautiful!
ReplyDeleteTotally agree.
DeleteThe Elie Saab dress is beautiful, but for Queen Mary I'd chosen a less dark burgundy. Ladies with light blond hair look always better with dark colors than ladies with dark hair. In picture N°2 King Frederik with his hat on, looks like the captain of "The love boat". Lucky he took it off later on.
ReplyDeleteThe photos of Mary laughing and the one with the two ladies closely conferring are gorgeous. Congrats to the clever photographer. Mary’s jewellery is stunning.
ReplyDeleteMary likes it to be q.
ReplyDeleteWell, she better be. Because even if she's not, she's still the Queen. Any other brilliant insights to share?
DeleteAgree with Anonymous 14:35. And I think Mary is perfect for her role. As if she was born for this.
DeleteI think this dress is amazing!
ReplyDeleteDeep colour and with these jewels...amazing.
What is not to love. The dress with its part cape is perfection. Hair and make up on point, and the tiara is the cherry on top.
ReplyDeleteLowri.
I love the photo of Mary laughing. It's always nice to see someone in a genuine unguarded moment of joy/fun at these formal events.
ReplyDeleteFashion wise, I think Mary's Elie Saab is a perfect and elegant wintertime choice for formal evening wear. It looks like it feels warm and "toasty" while being very regal. I also like that she didn't go over the top with the jewelry but, I could also see her wearing this gown with the Rubie parure or even larger tiara.
Dress is beautiful, fits well and she has just the right amount of poise so she looks regal but not too stiff.
ReplyDeleteMy only quibble is her hairstyle. Mary has a beautiful face but the middle hair part doesn’t suit her (in my opinion). That is a charge I noticed when she became queen.

Q Mary is stunning. What a beautiful gown and color. Perfection from head to toe.
