On Monday, December 15, 2025, the Duchess of Edinburgh visited Alderney to attend celebrations marking the 80th anniversary of Homecoming Day. The Duchess of Edinburgh attended a church service at St Anne’s Church, accompanied by the President of the States of Alderney, William Tate. Alderney is marking 80 years since the first families returned to the island, five years after the majority of islanders had been evacuated ahead of the German occupation during the Second World War.

  1. Merveilleuse allure dans cette veste en velours bleu marine que Sophie a su combiner avec ce pantalon taille haute de couleur rose saumon ; j’adore son boutonnage !

  2. I like the cut and length on the pants, but I don’t think the color or fabric matches with the navy velvet blazer. She seems like a great, relatable royal but I wish she would get some wardrobe assistance given her visible role. Her clothes just need a few tweaks and she would look more polished.

  3. Wow, those pants are a real departure from Sophie's usual style. They take the term 'baggy' to new heights. They look even worse with the wind blowing and all that fabric whips around. But I do love the dusty rose colour of the pants and her velvet jacket is great.

    1. To me, those trousers aren´t baggy. Baggy trousers are wide around the hips and thighs but then narrow again further down. Sophie´s trousers are superwide all the way down, and actually widest at the bottom. It´s a style that´s almost skirt-like. I think they look great, especially in the wind. I am glad Sophie went for full length because they look bad on the model at ankle length. The jacket is to die for and it works beautifully with the trousers. The one thing I´d change are the shoes. I understand she didn´t want dark shoes, but the beige/camel ones don´t work. She should have chosen the same colour as the trousers, maybe slightly darker but definitely tone-on-tone.

  4. To me, this is another odd combination. As separates, the jacket and the trousers might be nice, but not together. One is fitted and almost military, the other is loose and flowing. Also, the colours are too starkly contrasting and not harmonious. A flowing cream skirt to just below the knee would have looked better with the dark jacket.

Paloma.

  8. I think I have to repeat my comment, because I pushed the wrong button and everything was gone.

Bad, bad styling of jacket and trousers. The trousers are too wide and too short. The shoes and handbag don't match the colour of the trousers. The jacket although it has too many buttons is the best of the clothes Duchy Sophie is wearing here. The jacket was styled much better on the older picture and on the picture of the model. Why didn't she do about the same. It is not possible that she can't see the difference between the older picture and the one she sees in the mirror.

    1. 19:17 it’s not bad bad styling! It’s styling that you don’t particularly like. Whereas I love it… so it’s not bad bad but good good according to my fashion preferences. I would have preferred different shoes if i were wearing this, but I love the trousers and jacket !

  9. Odd pants, even the color is strange, not winter weight for sure!

  10. The deep blue velvet jacket I love, beautiful trim and embellishments. The pants on the other hand conflict with the fabric of the jacket. Not the best match.

  12. I struggle to understand Sophie style. When you look at her choices a decade or so ago, she was voted one of the best dressed. I look at her now, and she seems to have devolved in her personal style. She is such an attractive woman with a stunning figure. She could look fabulous in the right clothes. This outfit is disappointing. The jacket is lovely and if she had matched it with a pair of navy trouser and boots, it would have been a well put together look. The pink baggy pants and beige/tan colored boots compliment nothing. It’s as if she’s dressed for two different seasons.
    Lowri.

  13. Oh my...I am not sure what's going on here and, to be honest, I feel Sophie doesn't have a clue either. She has decided to mix 2 opposite seasons and they do not mix. The trousers and the jacket are great pieces but in no way should they be worn together. When I see something like this it makes me think the original plan was to wear a different bottom piece but a disaster happened just as Sophie was headed out the door--so she grabbed the first clean thing available. We have seen enough of Sophie's wardrobe to know she had numerous other choices--if only she had found something else. I will say Sophie looks so excited to be taking part in this celebration and everyone there looks thrilled to have her.

  14. Two very nice pieces. But not so much in combination, I'm afraid.
