On December 16, 2025, Crown Prince Haakon and Crown Princess Mette-Marit of Norway hosted a pre-Christmas gathering at the Royal Palace Chapel for guests from the emergency services. Princess Ingrid Alexandra and Prince Sverre Magnus were also present at the gathering. The evening also featured musical performances by Gabrielle, Sebastian Zalo, Emil Kárlsen, and the Norwegian Girls’ Choir.

    Mette-Marit really needs a new hairstyle. Her constantly bleached, mid-parted and limply hanging hair never really suited her and is utterly boring. A young woman gets away with that but as she gets older, that style is increasingly unflattering. She seems to have good hair quality, so she could do lots of styles. I´d phase out the bleaching, cut some layers, have some hair partly cover her forehead and softly frame her face. A side part would also help, and a less severe one at that.

      Her hair, her choice. For me it's utterly boring to read comments that are giving hair or bra advices. Giving negative comments about children goes to that same category. She looks completely fine with her beautiful and healthy hair.

      When we complain, complain, complain we tell more about ourselves then the people we criticise. Maybe time to go check ourselves in the mirror. Ps weird how MM get criticised for her hair colour but Camilla, Silvia, Sonja and others doesn't...non of them has their own hair colour either.

      8:29 - Fine, you can do that with your hair and leave other people the freedom to style their hair the way that best pleases them.
      You seem to know how to treat an aging woman's hair (maybe yours), not the Princess's.

      To the original poster, it seems there's been a pile-on against your comment, but I think it is valid. This blog is about fashion and along with fashion comes the overall look of hair and make-up. You certainly have a right and it is not against ethics to mention perspectives on a public figure's hair, unless they have a medical condition that impacts their hair.

      I'd love to see pictures of the people who criticize other people's looks - hair, makeup, etc. I realize we are all here to see and critique fashion and how the outfits look on various royals but this one is just mean. Mette-Marit always looks nice and presentable and she has beautiful hair.

      It´s not a "complaint" to dislike someone´s hairstyle. We are not affected by how Mette-Marit chooses to wear her hair. But we can still opine about it. It´s a big part of someone´s styling.
      I actually agree about her hairstyle. It´s not that I dislike it as such, but it is always the same and indeed boring. She could have a lot more variation. And the bleached blonde? She looked good with her natural hair colour (before her wedding). Other royals colour their hair too, and some more successfully than others. There were vivid discussions regarding some people´s hair colour choices, so why not discuss Mette-Marit´s?

      The funny thing is all these women who criticise MM hair color never say a word about Camillas haircolor even if she color it in the same color as MM. That alone is revealing.

      17:48 This might be an issue to some onlookers: the Princess has beautiful hair.
      They don't, hence their need to criticice MM while applauding Queen Camilla's old, bleached, boring hairstyle.
      Same age group as some commenters.

    The floral blouse is very pretty, modern in style and print. Not sure if the glasses the CP is wearing suit her, seems to me other styles she has worn were more in proportion to her face,

    Really lovely to now see all four family members hosting an event together after the siblings attended one together. This is what it will look like in the years ahead, after the CP couple ascend the throne. All 4 are dressed nicely, especially MM. Simple red and white that fits well and she looks comfortable in. The men look smart too. I personally don't like the Erdem top (personal preference only) but Princess IA wears it well and that's all that matters.

      this christian dior blazer has been popular this year, MM has worn it in red and white. Pow wore it in ivory, Mary had it in blue.
      Ingrid's top is beautiful but looks like a pyjama top.

    Prinz Sverre Magnus ist mein Augenstern heute, er ist so ein schöner Mann : ) Diese Bluse ist eine Bluse und ich würde gerne einen Pyjama sehen in diesem Stil. Gerne lerne ich immer dazu! Natürlich ist Prinzessin Mette Marit wunderschön besonders ihre Haare und auch hier ihr Stil zeugt von Beständigkeit und auch hier mag sie auch ihrem Mann gefallen. Kronprinz Haakon er wird zunehmend interessanter und attraktiver. Hier mag ich alle Personen so wie sie sind. - Dorothe -

      Sie haben ganz recht, @Dorothe! Sverre Magnus ist ein wirklicher Herzensbrecher (zumindest für ältere Tanten 😅). Jeder hat passende Kleidung und auch ich mag diese Familie sehr. Haakon und Mette-Marit sehen immer noch wie frisch verliebt aus.
