On December 28, 2025, King Charles III attended the Sunday morning church service at St Mary Magdalene Church in Sandringham. King Charles was accompanied by the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh, Princess Anne and her husband, Vice Admiral Sir Tim Laurence, as well as Peter Phillips and his fiancée, Harriet Sperling, and David Armstrong-Jones with his daughter, Lady Margarita Armstrong-Jones.

This is a far better look on Sophie than the one she wore on Christmas Day. The coat is a perfect length. The tie waist is super flattering and her accessories are spot on.
ReplyDeleteLovely to see Peter Philips and Harriet there. She has such a good eye for what works for her,and this is a perfect country look.
Lady Margarita is in another stylish outfit.
Princess Anne looks perfectly attired for Sunday service.
Lowri.
I like Duchess Sophie's hat. Her coat seems to be made of a thin fabric. I don't know what the t° is in the morning in the UK but here, on the other side of the channel it is freezing minus 4 or 5 °C in the morning.
ReplyDeleteKing Charles is wearing his old coat of which I don't like the style nor the fabric of which it is made.
Lady Margarita, I suppose, don't know her well, how is she related to the other royals ? She wears a beautiful coat, hat and boots.
The duke of Edinburgh's coat has a beautiful color, but he looks to wear the coat of someone else who is taller and has broader shoulders than he has.
Peter Phillips and another man both are wearing winter coats with a good length.
Lady Margarita is the granddaugher of the late Princess Margaret, Countess of Snowdon. "The other man" (as you said wearing a good length winter coat) should be her (Margarita's) father, the now Earl of Snowdon.
DeleteLady Margarita Armstrong-Jones is the daughter of the current Earl of Snowden, and the grand-daughter of Princess Margaret, making her the great-niece of QEII.
DeleteDear 15:49, I’m glad it’s the king and not you wearing the coat if you don’t like it ;-). I on the other hand LOVE that the king is so thoughtful on the environment and prefers to wear old clothes for their useful duration; a brilliant model for us all.

DeleteI do not understand your comment. Why would I wear a men's coat ? I prefer the king of my country in a beautiful coat. There are many ways to respect the environnement and the climate and planet earth. I know King Charles has better coats, why this one is coming out every year with Christmas ? I am a year older than King Charles, I and other retired people are wearing the coats which we have and which are still looking good. These which are really too old are given away to the companies which are busy in the matter of giving a second life to clothes : a) by giving it to poor people when the quality is still good and it is not too worn out, b) by selling it to recycling companies which are making new products out of an old coat and are giving the money for good purposes like a home, education, food and clothes for disadvantage children or poor people. That is another approach and a good cause to which all of us can help.
I bought myself a new blouse for Christmas to go with new pants I already bought at the beginning of the autumn. The blouse looks like lace and has exactly the same colour as my pants and is entirely made of plastic bottles. On the label I read that it is made in Denmark and imported in mine and other countries. I thought maybe it will not be warm enough now with the freezing temperatures. So I took a sweater with me to go to the Christmas dinner and I was surprised I didn't need my sweater during the whole evening and had warm enough with my blouse made of recycled plastic bottles. I received many compliments for my beautiful "lace" (ha, ha) blouse.
17:09 he’s wearing it because he wants to. It has sentimental value ( his father’s) and he likes to wear it. He’s still a man with feelings, just because he’s king!
DeleteCheck out some of his earlier interviews on clothes when he was Prince of Wales. His choice is not to throw his clothes out as you may. His choice! I admire it.
Once you make a garment made out of recycled bottles, the fabric can no longer be recycled. Once you put it into landfill, it breaks down as any other plastic. Therefore better to leave bottles in the recycle cycle and to wear natural fabrics such as wool. The “recycled bottles” marketing is unfortunately unhelpful and greenwashing.
DeleteIt’s his Dad’s coat and he enjoys it. He can be your King and still have a heart!
DeleteWhatever you did for one of the least of these people, you did for me. Matthew 25:40
ReplyDeleteWhat in relation to his clothes?
Delete????????
DeleteActually a completely fair comment to make 16:00 when indeed these people were going to a church service!
DeleteNot in relation to clothes but yes relevant to the context of a Church of England service and its central message.
ReplyDeleteP Edward’s coat look to be a good length in proportion versus the kings coat which is too long. The prince always wears his clothing a bit big, especially in the shoulder area you can see how it is cut too wide. Now I suspect the king leaves this coat here to wear when he is in residence. P Anne looks lovely in her choice of hats. I like Sophie’s hat but imo it overwhelms her. Margerita chic in a well suited hat and coat, looks warm and cozy.
ReplyDeleteI like Sophie’s hat very well. I love broad brimmed hats because they are flattering
Delete(if the hat crown is right for the wearer) and because - when the Uv levels rise again - they protect the face. A practical hat that can be worn most of the year is an excellent thing!
Well said, agree.
DeleteThe king’s coat used to belong to prince Philip, he will wear it whenever he wants to !!

ReplyDeleteLove the woman in the burgundy hat, great coat and proportions. The rest of the lot is a very country.
Again, this is Lady Margarita, the granddaughter of the late Princess Margaret, Countess of Snowdon.
DeleteSo nice so many members of the family. Have seen Peter and his fiancée there as well. Nice outfit from some of the ladies.

I always love seeing King Charles in his old, beloved, patched coat. Harriet Sperling is beautifully dressed, she has excellent taste, but seems to be very ambitious, my feeling.

Why do the men always have their hands in the pockets. Sure thing to ruin the line of a coat.
ReplyDeleteBecause they’re not models trying to show a coat well but men who are walking who like their hands comfy / warm in their pockets ????
DeleteAlways the faithful ones present: King Charles, Princess Anne and Sir Timothy and Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh. Sophie's wide brimmed hat is a marked improvement over the many that were worn on Christmas morning. But her coat is too snug, in several places, especially the upper arm . And I like what I have seen so far of Harriet's sense of fashion. I have no idea if she is ambitious, but that is not always a bad thing for men and women.

ReplyDeleteRegarding the beloved, old coat King Charles is wearing, it is important to know that it has always been a sign of good breeding in old families to rewear and restyle clothing, these customs developed at a time when there was no fast fashion and people threw away as little as possible, right down to used paper and string. I know a stylish lady who wears her father’s very old Burberry and peps it up with a striking, new shawl, she even gets compliments.
