On December 24, 2025, Grand Duke Guillaume of Luxembourg delivered his first Christmas address as Head of State. In his message, he emphasized the importance of cohesion and unity within the country. The Grand Duke delivered his address in front of a portrait of his wife, Grand Duchess Stéphanie, which was painted to mark his accession to the throne.

Impeccable ! Paloma.

Of course the Grand Duke must consult his government when giving official speeches, but I am sure he was perfectly capable of developing his own ideas for this Christmas address, as opposed to what you assume.

Merci Virginia.

The language is called Letzebourg(ish). It is how they pronounce it. It is a mix of Dutch, French and German words and typical words for their language. Luxembourg (the state) is called Letzebourg in their language.

Maybe it is because it is his first Christmas speech, but the other speeches by King Philippe of the Belgians and King Willem Alexander of the Netherlands were interesting too. Never know they were published on this blog. And King Charles new year's speech ? Maybe we should consult the websites of the Royal houses or of the most important news papers of the different countries.
