Queen Máxima is making a four-day working visit to Indonesia in her capacity as the UN Secretary-General’s Special Advocate for Financial Health. On the final day of her visit, as part of the National Financial Health Event organised by the national financial services supervisory authority OJK, Queen Máxima participated in a roundtable discussion on scam prevention and the safe use of financial services.
Queen Máxima also met with government ministers to discuss policies and regulations that contribute to the financial health of households, and spoke with representatives of OJK. While in Indonesia, Queen Máxima also met with Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto at the Merdeka Palace in Jakarta to discuss her findings from the visit.
i adore Maxima but she could have been alittle culture sensistive with a dress below the knees and the heels are too high!

حذفOn picture N° 2 the Indonesian ladies are wearing high heels themselves. I think they have less problems with Western visitors and the way they are dressed than some commenters on this blog.
حذفWhy repeat bad stereotypes - let's have a look in the opposite direction: The inviting country could have a little culture sensitivity towards the culture of the country the invited person comes from? - Does it make sense too? Then, I think best thing is they live and let live each other as they like. Quite without false sensitivities in any direction.

I read a few articles on women's dress in Indonesia. Opinions vary, but it seems to depend on the region you are visiting. The dress in Indonesia, on the whole, is certainly more conservative and many women wear hijabs because of their Muslim faith. Maxima probably could have had her dress and coat a little longer, but the most important thing is that her shoulders and upper arms are covered and the is not wearing anything too form fitting. I read some reports of some men being inappropriate with women that are not covered, like tourists wearing long shorts and tank tops. If she was to visit a Mosque, I think she would wear a longer dress.

When she is visiting schools, hospitals, factories, etc... muslims everywhere. If we want a society where everybody can live together in peace, each with our own traditions and culture, we all have to learn not to make comments on how other people are dressed or what they eat or what ever. We have to accept them but they have to accept us as well. Good understanding always comes from both sides.
@15:52 You have made one of the more stupid comments. This skirt length is not "from the sixties". Skirt lengths go up and down in a cycle, as all fashion does. Maybe do a little research before making such an uninformed comment. Also for future reference, saying you are not going to mention *something* while mentioning that *something* is passive aggressively saying it, but you already know that of course.
حذفThis red coat is classic perfection in itself and also on her, it is very pretty and her choice of jewellery is quite fitting for this colour, and surprisingly simple/classic. Very becoming look (and length) for her.
ردحذفAnd seriously now: Look at her head. It is not true that Máxima does not wahs/brush her hair (I find these comments not only ridiculous but also primitive and hurtful). Truth is: If your hair lacks volume (and I know what I am talking about :-), you can wash and brush it as much as you like, it looks like this at the tiniest of air motion. If you chop off 10 centimetres of it, it will look the same, but you cannot make any kind of updo any more and for a bob it would be not enough substance. I highly estimate that she does not use extensions (except for special occasions). Thin hair is like this.
As someone who has similar hair to Maxima, I know that it looks stringy once it reaches my shoulders. Seriously, a shaped bob or lob would look so nice on her. She could still use hair pieces for updos, etc. Just my opinion.

It is not because shoes are looking uncomfortable to you that they are uncomfortable for someone else. Queen Mathilde has the same shoes in different colors, but the last years I do not see her wearing them as often as before. Shoes of course are worn out faster than clothes.

حذفShoes are something that tends to divide some of us. For some reason, high heels are almost offensive to some and elegant and feminine to others. I always think it comes down to those that cannot wear high heels being the ones that don't like them. Wear what you like and are able to and let others do the same. Shoes "looking uncomfortable" does not mean that they are uncomfortable. Any woman that wears heels will tell you that it is not possible to wear them for any length of time if they are causing pain. The women that wear then do so because they are comfortable in them. When they are older and cannot wear them comfortable, they will start wearing lower heels.

If one is on an 'official' visit I personally think as a sign of respect to the hosts one should be as well groomed a possible. On this tour Maxim a has failed on each day - my opinion!

ردحذفMessy hair, dress length way too short, shorter still when she is seated, and those awful plastic shoes. We have our opinions, mine is, ditch the plastic shoes, buy a few pretty hair ribbons, and use them.
ردحذفIt is called recycling. The coat and dress are made of silk. You are not aware that shorter clothes are in again. Maybe the shoes are more comfortable than you think. If it would not be the case, I don't think Queen Maxima would have kept them such a long time.

حذفI bought myself a new blouse made of recycled materials like plastic bottels and polyester material which comes from old clothes. It looks like lace. From a distance one cannot see it is not the real stuff. The designer is a Danish brand of which I never heard before.
The recycling companies where I live are collecting regularly old clothes of all kind. The only thing they ask is not to mix dirty clothes with the clothes you wish to give away. First these clothes are controlled. Everything that is still good and not damaged go to second hand stores. All the rest which is not good to wear anymore goes to the factories where new articles are made of polyester dresses, pants, skirts, etc... Everything that is made of cotton or wool goes also to factories where new things are made of these materials.
I love the stylish short coat on Maxima. She looks youthful and charming. Enough have commented on hair - so I won’t. I am not a fan of that style of heels with the clear plastic. Both Maxima and Mathilde wear several colors of this particular style. Maybe they go shopping together. :)
