Crown Princess Kiko and her son, Prince Hisahito, visited Izu Ōshima Island

Crown Princess Kiko and her son, Prince Hisahito, visited Izu Ōshima Island (Tokyo’s Ōshima Town) to watch the orienteering events of the Tokyo Deaflympics. Orienteering is a sport in which competitors use a compass and a map to navigate a natural course and race to complete it in the shortest possible time. On the same day, they also visited “Buratto House,” a local shop that sells the island’s agricultural products and dairy goods.

  1. Quel plaisir que de voir mère et fils formant un duo très complice - Il me semble que c’est la première fois que je vois le prince aussi souriant !

    1. Without his position as the heir to the heir to the Japanese Chrysanthemum Throne, I'm pretty certain that girls would soon line up to get his attention. Alas, for all what we know, it is very difficult to marry into the Japanese Imperial Family. I wouldn't want for my daughter to go down that route.

  9. Is this the prince that will become the Emperor since women can't inherit?

  10. Princess Kiko is not the Crown Princess.
This is because Prince Akishino has not held (Rittaishi no rei )the ceremony of investiture as Crown Prince . He is the heir presumptive. The order of succession to the throne is provisional and may change in the future.

    1. On 8 November 2020, the Rikkoshi-Senmei-no-Gi was held, in which the Emperor proclaimed that Prince Akishino had become Crown Prince. As a result, his wife, Kiko, became the Crown Princess. Since Emperor Naruhito and Empress Masako are now in their sixties and there is no possibility that they will have a son, Fumihito is confirmed as the Crown Prince.
