On October 1, 2025, King Willem-Alexander and Queen Máxima of the Netherlands paid a working visit to the Occitanie region of France. In the evening, the King and Queen attended a reception hosted by the Mayor of Toulouse at the Capitole, the city’s historic Town Hall. The Royal Couple met with representatives from the aviation, agriculture, and energy sectors, as well as participants of the Dutch trade mission and their French partners.
Maxima looks lovely here, and that diamond brooch from the royal collection is a stunner. I love the concept of this outfit with its very wide pants and mohair sleeve cuffs looking like a delicate stole.
ردحذفToo bad that the top is wrinkling so much, especially under the weight of the brooch. The tops of the sleeves have been cut so narrow, that every time the queen lifts her arm to wave, the whole top is dragged and rides up, and won't fall back into place as it should. I would find this top super-annoying to wear, as it would have to be so often pulled back into place by hand. This is a perfect example of why royals need clothing which allows them plenty of free movement in the arms. Lyra

I’ve observed that most of not all Natan tops / tops of dresses are similarly poorly conceived and look like great shortcuts were taken by the designer not to properly incorporate arms, which are a regular feature to consider. She does look brilliant in it anyway.

حذفMáxima's style incorporates a certain playful and often exuberant element. But this is, at least for me, part and expression of her character and makes her all the more unique. You are right with the twenties' movie star look - for me, only her hairstyle, she looks lovely with it. All the rest is very up to date and can of course be liked or not. Except two things: first, the brooch, these invaluable jewels cannot be judged according to any time period, they are stellar in their own right. Second, Máxima's smile. What a pity you don't seem to like a (for me) genuine big smile.

حذفHave to agree, too much of a good thing, is still too much! However, at least she had her hair nicely styled, and not the stringy hair. Pants are too wide, the furry/fuzzy bell type sleeves, OTT, and the top drapes oddly. Earrings are not too big, but cannot see enough of them to know what they look like close up.

حذفMaxima may be extra at times, but to say she has "too much smile" is not something I can agree with. She comes off as completely genuine to me. I think she is a very joyful, enthusiastic person with a love of life and pride in her adopted homeland.

حذفYou can have the opinion this style is too much (it's not my opinion but we can disagree on that). But to say she has too much smile? How should she behave, more demure and stiff, distanced? She looks happy, genuinely friendly, always interested and invested in where she is. To me, that's her biggest asset.

I think she hit the dress code bang on! 14:09 we have to trust that the royals understand the context of their events far better than we do… given we weren’t invited, we weren’t there, we weren’t advised on dress code, etc!!!
