On October 1, 2025, Queen Silvia took part in the 20th anniversary celebration of Barnahus in Linköping. This week marks 20 years since Barnahus Linköping was inaugurated. To commemorate the anniversary, Barnahus Day was celebrated at the Concert and Congress in Linköping. The first Barnahus in Sweden was established in 2005. At Barnahus, police investigators, prosecutors, and social services work closely together.
Barnahus (“children’s house”) is a child-friendly, multidisciplinary, and interagency model for responding to child abuse and cases where children have witnessed violence. The purpose of Barnahus is to provide each child with a coordinated and effective child protection and criminal justice response, while preventing trauma and retraumatization during investigation and court proceedings.
