On the afternoon of October 9, 2025, Queen Máxima presented the 2025 Apples of Orange (Appeltjes van Oranje) Awards at Noordeinde Palace in The Hague. King Willem-Alexander and Princess Beatrix were also present at the ceremony. Each year, the Oranje Fonds presents the Apples of Orange Awards to three social initiatives within the Kingdom of the Netherlands. The winners are announced during the award ceremony.
The announcement of this year’s winners took place in the presence of representatives from the ten nominated initiatives. The Grand Apple of Orange was awarded to the Straat Consulaat Foundation, which supports homeless people in The Hague in finding the right assistance. The other two Apples of Orange were awarded to Takecarebnb Foundation and Fundashon Pro Bista Kòrsou.
Jumpsuit is nice, fits well and her hair looks lovely. Princess B and the king are both dressed well.

However, in spite of the fact that I am not against some well designed originality, I cannot avoid saying NO to the sleeves ; they are a bit ridiculous and above all they influence negatively the global look and make her look bigger than she is. Jumpsuits are really difficult to wear for most women.

حذفI’m “blessed” with similar hair and I look like a completely different person depending if I do my hair or not 😂 If I use lots of product and attempt a blow out, my hair can look significantly fuller and thicker. She may also be using clip in extensions, but just giving my experience with how my similar hair can be very different depending on effort

حذفSuch a variety of clothes, including several people in jeans, but all looking happy and clean and therefore, harmonious. Maxima’s outfit seems to really match the mood and occasion. While I myself would not have chosen a garment with these sleeves, they give an interesting arty detail to an otherwise low contrast outfit. The colour, length and detailing really suit Maxima in my opinion.

She’s a living breathing modern day mum and sustainable finance expert who represents the king at various events and causes. Nothing in the job description requires her to be perfected! You can give her full leeway to be a human - a very busy human - giving enormous goodwill wherever she goes, and you can be kind about each of us living as best we can.

حذفShe is not wrinkled. Her pants have creases from sitting. Please learn the difference between wrinkles and creases. Pants that don't crease from sitting are probably made from more synthetic than natural materials. As you must know, synthetic fabrics are made from petroleum and chemicals. It is a high price to pay for less creases and wrinkles. Frankly, when I see creases, it is a sign that they are wearing a better garment. You also must know that none of these royals leave for an engagement wrinkled. They have staff that care for their clothes. Each and every garment is perfectly pressed and steamed when they put it on. What happens after that depends on the fabric and the duration they were sitting.
Since you mention hair extensions in the same sentence as all of your complaints about her appearance, you obviously find them to be a problem. Can you explain why? I still can't understand why it is a constant comment. I have come to the conclusion that there are people who need to complain about something. Since her hair looks nice, you need to attack the possibility that she has enhanced her style with extensions. Again, why is it a problem? Extensions are no different than wearing makeup or jewelry. They enhance the overall appearance. Hair pieces have been worn for centuries. Nothing new here.
The sleeves of this jumpsuit are certainly different. They are also a style that Maxima has worn before. While it is not a style that most of us would be comfortable wearing, or have the occasion to wear, it suits her perfectly. When I first saw the pictures, I guessed this was a jumpsuit by Claes Iversen, who has been the designer of the previous clothes she has worn with cutouts. I'm not sure why you have mentioned "baggy wide trousers" in your rant. That is what is in style.
I would suggest you focus on the comments made by Anon 8:33 regarding the role of a queen, her "position" as you call it. You need to adjust your understanding of her role now that we are a quarter of the way through the 21st century.
08:33 and the rest of the nay-sayers to the original poster; Maxima represents a country, is married to the King, she has a responsibility to dress well, and have her hair, makeup, accesories all in order when she makes public apperances. Most of the time, she skates by the hair issue, wearing inappropriate outfits to the more reserved, special occasions, and yet she can pull off full blown royal banquets, etc. She has the ability to do it right, she has the money to do it right, its beggers belief that she doesnt appear from the outside to care when she appears in public, with a god-awful fringy/lime green (or whatever the color was) garment in a previous engagment within the last two weeks, when the occasion dictated, a more serious type of outfit (40th anniversary of an organization). I've been watching her over the years, she doesnt have her hair done well, when it is just 'common people' she will be interacting with, but makes an all out effort to have her hair done well, when she wants to impress, or stand out from the crowd, such as last week's appearance with the Luxembourg abdication/bringing forward the next Grand Duke/wife. Overshadowing a couples once in a life-time event was not nice. IMHO, since she has a hair salon in the palace, use it, for every public appearance, take the time, make the effort to look the best one can with the prestige, money, position you married into.

ردحذفI think MaxMara was daring with these sleeves and if anyone can pull off the dare, it’s the beautiful queen Max! She looks to my eye heaps better than the fashion house model as she fills this outfit with her joy and humour. I think without the sleeves it would be boring, but with? It’s a glamourous and fun outfit. Hair looking fab. Smile turned up to 10. Nothing to complain about here!

If she had not those sleeves, quite a lot of people would surely moan "boring". Calling cutouts "awful" or "ghastly" is maybe a bit overdone, much more overdone as an opinion as are cutouts in fashion design, they are nothing outlandish. The jumpsuit is quite nice, worst on it for me being the wrinkles. Hair is lovely, but as always, I understand that she refuses to make this effort (or a ponytail) every day. We should know and accept it by know.

At last her hair has been brushed, and no doubt enhanced, before appearing in public. No one in the group, with the exception of the King, looks particularly presentable.
ردحذفTalking about accessoires and lobsters, look at how tastefully Queen Beatrix applies her necklace - it makes such a difference, especially in old age, to do exactly this. Máxima also has an interesting piece of rock hanging on a necklace, in harmony with her shirt neckline. I'd say that rock is not made of glass :-)

Je trouve tout cela fort regrettable car peu de personnes ont compris que ce n'était pas de la méchanceté mais seulement une pointe d'humour.
حذفMaxima est bien connue pour ses tenues parfois extravagantes (autant les formes que les couleurs : parfois improbables) et on sait aussi qu'elle aime les bijoux énormes et très voyants. Elle adore également les broches animalières (on l'a déjà vue avec des araignées, une fourmi, un toucan, un serpent, des papillons, etc., j'en oublie).
Elle a même porté un gros collier orné de cacahuètes !!
Et des pompons, des plumes, des franges... et autres ajouts...
Donc un collier homard lui plairait certainement et je ne serais pas du tout étonnée si un jour elle en porte un ! ;-)
D'autre part, je pense qu'anonyme du 9-10 suggérait également une association de couleurs un peu antagonistes : donc un très gros collier homard orange-corail peut effectivement bien trancher sur un costume vert olive ! (Bien que ces deux couleurs ne soient pas tout à fait opposées dans la gamme chromatique).
J'ai trouvé cette idée mode plutôt intéressante et amusante.
Bref, je prends la défense de cette personne (qui n'a pas de pseudo) car je n'y ai vu que de l'humour en clin d'oeil et une suggestion très originale et même très sympa alors que la plupart d'entre vous -hélas- ont pris ses propos pour de la méchanceté, voire de la haine (oui, ce mot a été écrit). Hi Paloma. I agree with you about Maxima's jewelry, especially her critter pins. She has a fairly large collection that I think she alone can successfully wear. I know I am in the minority saying I like the spiders and other creatures. That being said, I don't think the comment about the lobster was humor. Everything said in that comment was a negative criticism, not a positive critique, so I can't share that opinion with you. I look forward to seeing your comments the next time Maxima wears one of her critter pins. We may be the only two people to have something positive to say.
حذفGorgeous! I'm surprised by all the nasty mean comments about Maxima - but I always am. The sleeves add INTEREST to a really rather boring color and standard look. It's details that make an outfit INTERESTING and for a person like her, who dresses for public scrunity all the time, I'm sure she enjoys little details to keep her wardrobe fresh. Her hair looks great - why should anyone care if it's extensions or a good blow out? SHE LOOKS GREAT! Beautiful jewlery and a great fitting outfit with a good hair day? Sounds perfect to me!
