Very nice color. Also, nice blouse just not a fan of the style. I also think regular color stockings would have been better. This is OMO.

Fashion is fickle and our fashion ideas so interesting and opposite! I really love black stockings once it starts getting cold. And I myself wouldn’t choose this blouse pattern as I don’t like animal prints (except on animals where I like them very much). But I really love the idea of pinafore dresses which can have different tops under them. I think I would have paired this one with a crisp white blouse. That said, the print she has does go very well with the green and black for an English autumnal literary eve.

    2. It is very British to wear these opaque stockings. I like it though.

The blouse is fashionable this autumn - winter. The green dress worn over the blouse has a beautiful fashionable color but doesn't look good worn over the blouse. The brown shoes do not match the black stockings. The blackjacket worn on top of all that d.oesn't look good. The styling is very bad either

With all due respect, the styling is not “very bad”, but possibly, not to your taste. Taken as a whole, the colours from top to toe coordinate very well. I think her choices are very appropriate for her age, position and for a literary evening. These are authors, not fashionistas, and Camilla is very approachable and “with them” if you look to other photos of the group she spent the evening with. She is approaching 80 and doing a marvellous job, and grew up in a different era from many who comment here. Her style may be different from your preferences, but it is not “very bad”.

Always talking about her age and position. Look at Queen Silvia of Sweden or Princess Benedikte of Denmark or Queen Sonja of Norway, that are royal ladies with style. The times Queen Camilla was dressed stylish, I can count on the fingers of one of my hands.I also am approaching 80, but even if you would give me money to wear the same clothes as Queen Camilla is wearing here, I would refuse. And my age and position forbid me to dress like that. The people who know me would ask me what's happening if I wore such a ridiculous outfit.

Anon 1200, I agree this is not stylish.

@Anon 09:57 Personal merits and fashion or let's call it: merits in tasteful clothing choices - should not get mixed up. One does not replace or compensate weakness in the other. I am always irritated when reading "but she is such a hard working royal" or "but she is such an asset" etc. Nice, but offtopic. Camilla has her own taste, she sticks to it, good for her - but it could be better for the viewer.

  3. I like the green dress, the blouse, I am not a fan of, not with this dress. The sleeveless jacket looks good and she wears this well with the dress. Is she wearing black tights and brown shoes?

I like the cape, it is coat length and without the sleeves it fits over any dress. As far as this combination goes, not to my taste, it looks so old fashion. Looked better with the cape on.

Great autumnal green on the Queen. Also like that there’s a patterned on the blouse, which makes it miles more interesting than a plain color. She must have a wicked sense of humor and it’s so fun to see photos with everyone having some fun.

Yes must have a sense of humour to show up dressed like this

6:13 totally agree. 14:51 are you here as a troll or a kind human considering the Queen is an older lady and doesn’t have to conform to fashion?

  6. De tout cet ensemble, c'est le chemisier aux couleurs automnales qui a ma préférence mais à ne pas porter avec ce style de robe verte sans manches !

I like her supporting literature very much and I like her contagious smile and all the signs that she has excellent humour. But I find that dark green is very very bad with brown. If the shoes were brown, it is less of a problem, but brown animal print with dark green is really bad for me and the combination with black does not make it more enjoyable. I mean, green and black, OK. But that brown animal print ... no. (One plus: the blouse does not have a frilly neck like her white blouses with frill.) Black tights: no problem here, why not. Soon you'll all complain about her boots, so enjoy the boot-less time until then :-)

    1. Oh! Anon 11:38.
      Thank you for mentioning boot-les-time.
Yes, there’s no doubt this period will be back with us very soon. 😄

  8. While I think that the outfit is very true to her style, I also think that it is just one colour too much. We have black (in the tights, the blouse, the cape, and her handbag), we have green (only in her dress), and there is also cream/white (blouse) and browns (shoes plus blouse). Personally, I would change the green dress worn over the blouse to perhaps something cream or brown (like a skirt, perhaps? One can but live in hope). Then it all would be much more consistent. But her expression is just radiant and happy. Good for her.

Paloma.

I really like this autumn look worn by Queen Camilla. I love the forest green with the animal print blouse--while others don't like the pairing, I do. The black opaque stockings are a good choice too. My only change would be the brown shoes--I would have worn black and she was using black for her other accessories. Camilla looks lovely here, rested, and in her element, enjoying herself at this literary event.

In America, we call the green dress a jumper. Jumpers remind me of school uniforms. I don't like them on adults at all. I can't stop imagining a school girl. I do like the blouse and would have loved it with a black skirt and even her beloved boots. The combination of the green with the colors in the blouse doesn't work for me, and the shoes are a clear miss. My personal preference is for tights (American for heavier, opaque stockings) to be worn with boots, not shoes. It looks like she is wearing that black cape she has that I have always thought was too short for her.
