On August 31, 2025, Princess Kako visited a hall in Yurakucho, Tokyo, to attend the 42nd National High School Sign Language Speech Contest. The contest is held to encourage the activities of high school students involved in learning sign language or participating in sign language clubs, and to promote the use of sign language and welfare-related activities.

Princess Kako of Japan addressed the audience in sign language for about five minutes. Referring to the upcoming Deaflympics—the international sports event for the hearing impaired to be held in Japan in November—she remarked: 'Being exposed to various sign languages used around the world, as well as to international sign language and diverse forms of communication, will surely be a wonderful opportunity.'

Nice color dress, it looks a little too big for her. She always has a smile for the people.

  3. In addition to being beautiful, Princess Kako is fine representative of the Japanese royal family. I've not seen her make one mis-step in the years I've been following My New Royals.

Kako is so pretty in this red dress! It is wonderful that she so actively supports sign language and giving "voice" to the hearing impaired.

This dress is, by western tailoring standards, poorly constructed, probably the wrong fabric choice for the style, and it is also poorly fitted i.e. too big in places. However as we have come to know, the Japanese royal tailors follow their own rules. I do love the wide collar, and the red which suits Kako so well; the engaging smile of this young princess is always a delight to see. Lyra

She looks lovely in red. I feel the dress may be too big for her or perhaps a belt would have looked nice to cinch it in a bit. Not a fan of her shoes, much prefer the style with the pointier toe she wore recently. Such a tiny lady.
