On September 5, 2025, King Frederik and Queen Mary attended a commemorative ceremony marking Denmark's Flag Day 2025. The ceremony was held at the Citadel in Copenhagen in honor of Danish soldiers and officials who are or have been deployed abroad. Prior to the commemorative ceremony, a memorial service was held at Holmen's Church with the King and Queen in attendance.
Each year, September 5 is observed as an official day to honor Denmark's deployed soldiers, with ceremonies and events held across the country. Flag Day for Denmark’s Deployed Personnel was first commemorated in 2009. On this occasion, Queen Mary of Denmark wore a green 'Yahvi' midi dress by Beulah London.

Is that the same headpiece that Catherine wore? In a different color? And I think that's the same dress too. They look great in the same things.
ReplyDeleteyes, exactly the same dress, exactly the same headpiece, exactly the same bag, exactly the same shoes that Catherine has.
DeleteLove that hairband for an at least partially outside occasion, weather cannot intervene. And also love the heels! If high, a certain chunkiness makes the heels much more wearable - especially on those cobblestones. But it also looks very pretty, not at all less elegant than the thin heels. Photo 6: Does Fred hold on to Mary for keeping his balance? Would be funny.
ReplyDeleteHe is leaning on his sword
ReplyDeleteEither use your time here to learn about his uniform, medals, and why he wears them, or don't bother commenting. Making ignorant comments doesn't serve anyone.
DeleteIt is a fact that King Frederik is wearing often his uniform. In other countries like Spain, Belgium, etc... the kings do not wear their uniform as much as Frederik. We see it every year during their holidays. In every little town the boat brings him, he is wearing his uniform. I've never seen Queen Margrethe wear something that looked like a uniform. Maybe it is an old custom that they want to bring to life again. He also wears a lot of medals. It is a bit the same tradition like in the British royal family. Even the queen and the princesses are wearing medals and have a title in the army...... although they never had military training or did any service.
DeleteAnonymus 18:49: you are making yourself ridiculous and not the king. Sorry for this rude comment, couldnot withhold it.

DeletePlease, try to learn something on King Frederik X, especially as far as his military career and titles, honors, medals, etc are concerned.

I can't make it out why you venture on territories you are not privy to and cut these poor figures.
The comment at 08:38 is even more
incredible.
“ I can't make it out why you venture on territories you are not privy to and cut these poor figures.” ???? - who writes this stuff ?!
DeleteDear @ Anonymous 21:46,
DeleteI almost stumbled on your blossoming punctuation...
If you had read more carefully through my previous comment, you would have seen that I clearly and consequentially replied to the comment from @ Anonymous 18:49.
The " you" subject in your quotation from my comment was obviously referred to that Anonymous commenter.
She was questioning King Frederik' s achievements and medals so I hit back with more information from Wikipedia.
It is no use questioning a royal gentleman's career if someone does not know anything about him .
This is the sense of " venture on territories you are not privy to..."
"Stuff" clarified?
I hope so.
That's all.

ReplyDeleteI agree it is over the top but o so Danish.
DeleteGorgeous, Mary and Fredrik. Photo 6 I think Fred is holding onto Mary for support? … so what does he say to her in Photo 7? “ Did I do ok? Do you think they saw that their King almost tumbled backwards?”… ???
ReplyDelete"Thank you darling for holding me" :-))
Paloma.
DeleteThank you 20:55 for the funny response! I appreciate you joining the little game of “I wonder.. “ !
DeleteOnce again, I think Mary got this look completely right. It is proper for the occasion. I love the dress, the style of it, as well as the colour. The skirt is beautifully flared to just the right degree, and Mary's headband is a lovely accessory (a simple hat would have also looked nice). Best of all are her shoes. Apart from looking smart, the wide heel is best for cobblestones.
ReplyDelete- Anon 9:13
I agree with your comments (Anon 19:52). A very solemn and regal King and Queen . So glad Mary changed out the sleeves for a sleeker look.
DeleteI love her outfit and the texture and style of the shoes, but see that they are so high that it doesn’t really seem she has feet (horizontal body parts) on the end of her legs. A lower heel in this same style would be more beautiful in my view.

I like the Beulah dresses, apart from their floppy sleeves. A little too whimsical for such an occasion.QM has had hers removed which more fitting for such a somber and respectful occasion. I like the black hairband,I believe QM has a few in this style. The black accessories give a final polished look.
ReplyDeleteLowri.
The colour is appropriate, fit very nice, perhaps a bit tight on top it shows the strapless bra . Re comments on the kings medal, very ignorant comment. Each medal has meaning, he did earn many being in the military and he is a king so it shows his status.
ReplyDeleteLove this dress, both colour and fit, and the elegant shoes. Not so keen on the coat which is too short for the dress. Love King Fredrik hanging onto the Queen for balance!
ReplyDeleteIt wouldn't be practical to have coats in all the necessary colors and varying lengths to coordinate with an entire wardrobe. It is financially and sustainably wasteful.
DeleteDid you notice how Mary modified the sleeves? well done - less is more.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful Mary has a fresh approach to fashion these recent times.
ReplyDeleteI like the pumps she's wearing not with thin high heals. Instead of a hat she's wearing a bandeau. The green color of her dress is stunning.
The dress is lovely. If you see the photo of the dress it has some sort of frill at the end of the sleeve. Appears Mary have had hers cut off which I think looks much better. Bravo Mary today you got the whole look right. Mary
ReplyDeleteQueen Mary looks beautiful and elegant. I love her shoes--the chunkier heel is so beautiful. Totally perfect for this important occasion.
ReplyDeleteJanet
I like coats the same length as the dress or skirt, but minor quibble. The dress looks good, beautiful flowing, skirt of the dress, plenty of movement, the color is gorgeous, suits the Queen well. Love, love! the headband.
ReplyDeleteThe fun part of the dress, the flaring sleeves, were removed. Now it is just dull.
ReplyDeleteBeulah is such a typical British, a bit oldfashioned brand, but all dresses Mary wears of this brand are quite good. Mary has an excellent sense of style.
ReplyDeleteThe dress is a rewear and the frills at the sleeves were already removed when she wore it for the 1st time. This Beulah dress is not worn by Mary alone but by a lot of British royal ladies in beautiful colours: Princess Catherine, Duchess Sophie, Princess Beatrice, etc... I would'nt wear a dress that looks so sad like Mary's. Unless one use lighter colours for the accessories, like light beige or camel f. ex. for the headband, shoes, handbag,..... A classic (trench style) raincoat does not have to be as long as the dress. It is a coat one can put on in case it is needed. Once it stops raining, one can take if off again.
ReplyDeleteThat's another outfit from Mary where I wouldn't change a thing.
ReplyDeleteRegal perfection, including that lovely
headband and hairstyle.
Makeup is impeccably applied as well.
Love her pumps and bag.
King Frederik always looks handsome and impressive in his uniform.
Everething is just perfect ❤️
ReplyDeleteIt is very interesting to see just how perfectly Queen Mary altered this dress. The Duchess of Edinburgh often favors dresses from this same fashion label but often does not achieve the same well-tailored and classic look. Perhaps she might be inspired by some of the small, yet significant changes Queen Mary makes. The Queen looks truly lovely here.
