Grand Duke and Grand Duchess Present Honorary Distinctions at Berg Castle

On Saturday, Grand Duke Henri and Grand Duchess Maria Teresa presented the Order of Civil and Military Merit of Adolphe of Nassau at Berg Castle to four recipients recognized for their commitment to the fight against sexual violence against women. The Order is one of the principal orders of merit of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg, awarded for distinguished service to the Grand Duke, the Grand-Ducal House, and Luxembourg.

The Grand Duke conferred the distinction upon: Dr. Denis Mukwege, 2018 Nobel Peace Prize laureate and human rights activist; Mrs. Chékéba Hachemi, co-founder of Stand Speak Rise Up! and former Franco-Afghan diplomat; Mrs. Elisabeth Nicoli, lawyer, activist of the MLF, and co-president of the Alliance of Women for Democracy; Mr. Philippe Peyrat, General Delegate of the ENGIE Foundation.
