On September 11, 2025, Crown Princess Mette-Marit attended the fourth International Fosse Festival at the Norwegian Theatre in Oslo and took part in a reading circle on the novel “Naustet” (The Boathouse) by Jon Fosse. The reading circle featured authors Erlend Loe and Olaug Nilssen, together with literary critic Bernhard Ellefsen.

The reading circle was one of several events during this year’s Fosse Festival, organized by Det Norske Teatret and Det Norske Samlaget. Crown Princess Mette-Marit is the patron of the festival that bears Fosse’s name. In 2023, Jon Fosse was awarded the Nobel Prize in Literature for his innovative drama and prose, which 'gives voice to the unspeakable'.

This is actually a lovely skirt and it suits MM very well. She has the height to pull off this design with the lower mermaid tier. I also like that she has paired it with the shorter, fitted black jacket. Very nice look, and very nice to see her up and about, happy and smiling.

    1. Don't you think it's navy?

Are you sure the skirt has a mermaid tier ? If you look at the picture of the model I cannot find it.

@Coralie: Hard to tell on my screen. In one photo it looks black, in another possibly navy, and in a third it looks purple which I'm sure is only due to lighting. So I went with black as that seems to be the colour of the print of the dress on my screen. Or maybe that's navy too? I don't know.

It is the 'Madie' Blazer in Sky night Blue. I think this is an unusually good combination of two pieces from different brands working well together. The skirt and jacket look like they are made to go together. Lovely.

This is a perfect length for a floral skirt. Nicely coordinated with the solid color jacket.

Yes, that's what this Princess really is: lovely , engaging and getting better ( that's s what I wholeheartedly wish her)
Splendid and professional combo fashionwise, subtly sleek and unfussy.
Her blonde platinum hair is her glorious crown.
She doesn't need any other juwel/ tiara on her head imv.

The skirt fabric is fine on Mette Marrit. On the model, I can’t work out the designer’s choice of a mid thigh gather/rouche… why not let beautiful fabric have its space and hang free? Anyone else?

The flower pattern, in itself nice, could be enough. But no, there must be some tiers and ruches and whatnot and yes, a little ribbon too to adjust the tier or the ruches or whatever ... I don't like this preference of her for girlish adornments, preferably more than one...

This event was on the 10th not the 11th. I guess we don't follow the Norwegians very closely...
