On August 25, 2025, King Frederik and Queen Mary arrived at Sæby Harbor in Frederikshavn Municipality aboard the Royal Yacht Dannebrog as part of this year’s summer cruise. The King and Queen were brought ashore by launch to the arrival pier in Sæby Harbor, where they were welcomed by, among others, Mayor Karsten Thomsen. The royal couple then attended an official reception at Sæby Church before visiting Sæby Glassworks.
This year’s summer cruise with the Royal Yacht Dannebrog includes visits to Frederikshavn Municipality on August 25, Thisted Municipality on August 26, Læsø Municipality on August 27, and Samsø Municipality on August 28. The Royal Yacht Dannebrog serves as the official residence of the King and Queen when they are on summer cruises in Danish waters or on official visits abroad.
Wow, I am a pretty consistent fan of Mary's ensembles, but this is a rare miss for me. It's absolutely random and is confused regarding the season. Summer shoes, fall skirt, spring jacket/blazer. I think she tried to tie in the hair accessory with the shoes, but it just doesn't work. The delicate summer sandals against that full-volume autumn skirt appear imbalanced. Hair and makeup look nice, however!
ReplyDelete@Anon 14:53 I completely agree with you. My thoughts are the same as yours.
Delete- Anon 9:13
It is a fall ensemble on the whole
Delete(except for the sandals).
I think that the weather had to be primarily taken into consideration when putting together this clothing scheme.
Windy, pretty cool throughout the voyage and warmer once they had disembarked.
She's my favorite, but today not her best but i still like her
Delete@14:53 I don’t see it as confused at all, nor do any pieces strictly belong to any season, but rather come together in a lovely ensemble that suits her and the weather and the event. Navy skirt, white blouse, brown sandals is a classic colour combination at any time - with that pretty blue jacket for on/off near the water. Beautiful ensemble!
DeleteHi Anon 14: 53.
DeleteI too agree with everything that you have written.
I would just add that I think we saw this jacket with a matching skirt many years ago.
Cate.
I entirely agree with you, @ Anonymous 07:04.
DeleteI couldn't have said It better.
👍
Blue is a good colour for her. Interesting that the skirt is a linen blend, it must be comfortable to wear.
ReplyDeleteThis outfit, with its eclectic assortment of formal and less formal components, is a miss for me. Lyra
ReplyDeleteI love tencil (aka lyocell). It's such a beautiful, luxurious and affordable fabric that almost has the feel of silk. It's also better for the environment and has many advantages over other synthetics. I'm happy to see it used in Mary's skirt because I usually see it in clothing that looks like denim. I hope manufacturers start utilizing more in the future. By the way, the skirt is lovely but the one shown on the model has more of a flounce. Not sure why the difference??
ReplyDeleteQueen Mary is very slim, but the skirt makes her look large. Pretty blue jacket.
ReplyDeleteRather have a full skirt than skin tight that shows all the imperfections. It does not make her look big
DeleteI think the skirt is very pretty on her and not at all making her look large.
DeleteThe Queen has a perfect body.
DeleteNo imperfections.
Belle tenue en trois parties bien choisies mais au niveau du serre-tête, j’aurais opté pour un modèle plus léger afin qu"il se confonde dans les cheveux !
ReplyDeleteLovely little jacket, best styling for a wide swinging skirt like this. And I agree, Lyocell/Tencel is a phantastic material, silky, but creases much less. It is the skirt that has volume, clearly not Mary. For me, it is the skirt that has volume, not Mary. @Sandra: The flounciness of the model's skirt could come from a wind machine :-)
ReplyDeleteThis outfit is exactly what I don't like in Mary's wardrobe and why I loved the black and white floral print suit the other day. While she doesn't have to wear wow outfits every time, this looks dull and mismatched, and even a bit matronly and dated. I don't think it flatters her and she has much better options. I am always a fan of piecing together separates, but they must coordinate well for a successful outfit.
ReplyDeleteHardly a matronly look, she looks like a lady in a full skirt. This outfit would look nice on her daughters.
DeleteI seriously doubt her daughters would wear this. She looks a little dowdy this time.
DeleteWhite, navy, & blue is lovely for a boat day. This is a classic ensemble that really works for the occasion: out and about on a boat, a church and visiting a glassworks.
DeleteActually princess Josephine wore this jacket in 2022. I have seen the picture in Instagram. I got the impression that it is Josephine's jacket. Looks very nice to me.
DeleteLove this unusual combo and the blazer melange colour and structure in particular.
ReplyDeleteIf some people are trying to envisage an old style, conventional Queen, that willl never be Mary (kudos to her).
I agree completely @P. the original.
DeleteThank you, @ Zucchina.
DeleteActually Q.Mary's skirt colour looks like navy and not black on my screen.
I really like her fashion picks here.
Such a miss - summer sandals, spring blazer, fall skirt. The skirt is unflattering
ReplyDeleteWhy do you say the articles have to belong to certain seasons only? That’s such a funny idea! Here in Denmark as summer ends and autumn starts our days ARE mixed and if you’re near the water, you might be having warm and cool temperatures in the course of a few hours. This outfit is great! - plus blue + white for the sea is always perfect.
Paloma.
ReplyDeleteWhat great look for Q Mary. Always elegant.

I think she looks like wonderful stylish Mary. I think her outfit is a tutorial on how to look like she is on vacation in a simple look for an official engagement. Those who comment on her winter skirt are wrong, maybe because its black but look how the model is dressed with sandals and off shoulder blouse. I also think that some are still hung up on black and the old ages, black is not for just mourning anymore, get over that thinking and conform to the modern ages!!!!! Lets rock the world!
ReplyDeleteWe’re so used to seeing Queen Mary in more ‘official’ clothing when she sets sail for their Summer tour visits,it’s a little strange to see her in part casual part tailored. The jacket with blouce is pretty,I just wonder if a Summer skirt ,similarly to her beautiful light blue pencil skirt from Hugo Boss, which would have married up perfectly with the jacket and blouce, and maybe a pair of flat ballerina shoes for comfort. This skirt seems a little Autumnal wear.
ReplyDeleteLowri.
It is autumn Lowri, and the skirt I think is navy blue.
DeleteShe got inspired by Queen Camilla for her accessories: light blue combined with caramel beige. The skirt is not the same as on the model. Queen Mary's skirt as an even hemline. The skirt worn by the model has an uneven front part.
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure of this combination, but I do like the blue jacket.
ReplyDeleteA beautiful end summer / early autumn outfit that perfectly complements the colour of her skin at this time of year too. It’s nonsense to say that she’s mixed up seasons or that any one piece can only belong to one season; where does that thinking come from?!? She has a linen/tencel skirt which is likely soft and lovely to wear, with a white blouse and sandals, and a jacket until it’s warm enough to take it off. It strikes a beautiful note! Early autumn on and off a boat is going to require a jacket and this one is very sweet.
ReplyDeleteThe woman in red is striking beautiful!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteSuch a boring look. I miss Maxima.
ReplyDeleteM has so many beautiful clothes, this style is dull!
