She is long and even the pocket flaps doesn't gives her curves.
This silhouet makes her even longer/taller.

Beautiful skirt, and so flowy that it can really very well accompanied by a jacket in a somewhat contrasting style in order not to be so "sweet" and romantic from top to toe. Best example for a good solution was the Duchess' Dior suit she wore some days ago with the Macrons. But I very much don't like this jacket. Not the collar and not the four pockets. Contrast does not have to mean total opposition and this very "hard" jacket does exactly this to the flowy skirt.

Beautiful combination, but a bit too fancy for Wimbledon?

Love this outfit. As she is presenting the championship trophy it’s difficult to see how the outfit could be considered too dressy

  6. This outfit has too much going on with all the pockets, the black bow, the belt and the pleats. It's a bit busy

Well, I like these soft floaty skirts worn with a structured jacket as you might know from my comments on the number of times Kate has worn this kind of look so I have no problem with this outfit. If that is a black bow on her top left, it might have looked even better to have black somewhere else on the outfit as well (a thin black belt?) to tie it all together. Then again if the pieces are separates, that may have been harder to achieve. I think she looks lovely as she is.

The black bow is the Wimbeldon ribbon

    2. The bow on Catherine's dress is purple and green. It represents her patron role of the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club.

This is her Wimbledon bow. It is purple and green, not black. It signifies her role as a patron of the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club. She has worn it each year since becoming an official patron.

Ah...thank you to all the above posters. I didn't know that about the bow and it's connection to Wimbledon - but now I do. Much appreciated.

I like the silhouette this jacket and skirt gives her, breaks up her thinness. I would like the jacket better without the pocket flaps. Lovely colour and summery

How lovely seeing Princess Catherine looking so well. I heard the rapturous greeting from the crowd as she entered the royal box.
It looks like Self Portrait is becoming the new go to designer for Princess Catherine.

  11. This outfit looks splendid. The skirt has beautiful flow, moves and falls well as she walked, even hemline is a yes! LOL! the jacket, looks lovely. This fits her perfectly. Love her bag and shoes. Its wonderful to see her, and looking well. She got a fabulous standing ovation, much deserved. as she took to her seat, a very humble and graceful woman/princess. She has handled herself with much dignity.

So many good things about this outfit; except that the jacket needs redesigning; the "t-shirt" sleeves are too short for her arm length, and the high neckline is too high for her torso length -- it needs to be an open V. The existing design creates a tight constricting feel on Catherine and doe snot balance her proportions. But I do love her hairstyling and her bag.
Another thing I notice is the overly pink blusher in the closeup pic which is "sitting" on her face very obviously, instead of blending in. It's not visible in the other pics, so I think the photographer has retouched the image. I do wish they would leave well enough alone! Lyra.

Dear Lyra, you can think what you want, but that doesn't mean it's true. The woman behind Catherine is also blushing. So, I think it's a matter of light and angle.
I like this "t-shirt" design and the length of the sleeves. It's an outfit that I put in my "I want to buy something like this" category.

Choose your words please a bit more carefully. Complain - who? Rude - where? Difficult to take part in social media if you cannot tolerate other opinions without baselessly hurting those who have them. And no, I am not keen to see you in real life.

Paloma.

Princess Catherine is looking very good in this outfit. I've loved it before and I still do. I've always read it is a dress and not two pieces. It is just the contrast between the flowy skirt and the bodice that looks like a little jacket which makes the dress very (still) fashionable. Why everybody wants to take away the pocket flaps, I don't know. These days the boutiques, fashion stores, etc... are filled with little jackets in the same style as this design by Selfportrait. Besides if there is one person who can wear this style it is Princess Catherine with her thin morphology. I also like the length of her sleeves, they are just fine. Longer sleeves would make the bodice too wide and less refined.

    1. Agree. Of course, everybody is entitled to their opinion, but I don't get why this constantly is refered to as "military style", and why this kind of style seems to be a bad thing (coming close to a fashion faux pas). I really like the pockets designed this way, it makes the skirt and top a little contrasting and certainly anything else but boring.

  19. Classy ensemble but I agree that the jacket with all the pockets and the vertical buttons don’t give her any soft curves, even with the flowy A-line skirt. The top two buttons make her look completely flat-chested. I’m in love with the handbag! And the slingback shoes!

2023, she wore another very similar two-piece from Self-Portrait, again: four pockets, belt. I did not like that one either, but if I compare the two, the previous one at least did not have this (sorry, for me!) hideous standing collar (I can't help that it reminds me of the little standing collars of the "uniform" jackets worn by Chinese communist party leaders and members alike). This is a rather masculine style, so many straight lines and pockets everywhere. A bit more femininity in the upper half of this outfit would do her good services - like it definitely does very much in the skirt part!

The pocket flaps, the collar, the belt... are copied from the Bar jackets by Dior, who put this style of the 50s in the collections again last year. Maybe self-portrait copied it earlier (before 2024). It has nothing to do with military jackets. These jackets are not made with metal buttons either. I can't remember when Princess Catherine wore this dress for the first time. I can't remember also that she received several bad comments like today. I wonder where all this negativity comes from.
I noticed if 1 or 2 commenters start with drawing the attention on something (in this case the flaps) the majority of the other commenters are writing exactly the same. I noticed the same phenomena in other items about other royal ladies.
