On the evening of July 20, 2025, King Philippe and Queen Mathilde, along with Princess Astrid and Prince Lorenz, attended the prelude concert marking the eve of Belgium's National Day. The concert took place at the Palace of Fine Arts (Bozar) in Brussels. Dutch pianist Hannes Minnaar, laureate of the 2010 Queen Elisabeth Piano Competition, performed with the Belgian National Orchestra under the baton of Antony Hermus.

Elie Saab Flower Embellished Cape Effect Jumpsuit
I LOVE princess Astrid's style!
ردحذفIt is daring and the SHOES!!
Very special and beautiful lady with lot's of humor. Delphine is more hippy and bold.
Agree on Pr. Astrid's ensemble. Nice combination.
حذفI am not a fan of jumpsuits, though this one fits nicely and colour is nice. I do like P.Astrid’s dress very different, suits her well, pretty lady.
ردحذفThe Queen’s hair looks perfectly wonderful. I’m not sure about the outfit.
ردحذفIt seems like too much of one color.
The Queen is tall and can pull off the jumpsuit quite well. Pants are too long (she could easily trip over them) and a little tight at the hips. Otherwise, the cape effect looks nice on Mathilde.
ردحذفOnce again, the pants are not too long. The length is deliberate. It has been the style for several years now. It is not a look for everyone obviously. Mathilde's clothes are tailored. To suggest her pants are too long is to suggest she didn't have time or the access to a seamstress.
حذفMathilde's caped jumpsuit is the most impractical garment I have seen in a very long time. How does she go to the bathroom in that thing? She would have to have someone unzip the back zipper so she can undress and then she would have to hold all that fabric up off of the floor. It doesn't even flatter her. A nice gown would look so much better and would be much easier to manage. I just don't get this trend.
ردحذفThere seems to be a fly in the front , maybe an answer to your problem?
حذفThere is a front fly. It is quite apparent in the images.
حذفI agree, jumpsuits are awful, and this one in particular, it is very unflattering for the Queen, especially around the hips.
حذفSomeone wrote it has a fly in the front, how does a fly help a woman to go to the bathroom? Jumpsuits got to be the most unpractical, unflattering garment ever invented and I can not understand why anyone would wear them.
This (strange coloured salmon pink?) outfit would be much better as a gown imo.
The top is a bodysuit and the trousers are separate although the outfit looks like a jumpsuit. It's a very cleverly made outfit. But because the fabric is very smooth and pale it's very hard to see where the waistband of the trousers is. You can clearly see it in the picture next to the model.
حذفWell, the fly problem is in fact intriguing. Gender fluid design? :-)) But if you look at the photo showing this garment from the back, there is an even more intriguing question: why should any woman look like a curtain from the backside? And: what does one do with that much fabric in urgent affairs, even with an already open fly?
حذفI like best Astrid's sweet pink shoes! - Ellie
ردحذفI'm not a fan of jumpsuits but this one looks fabulous, she looks so elegant. Her hair looks gorgeous.
ردحذفBoth ladies well dressed in their own style: QM : the soft colour suits her well, love the jumpsuit- cape combination; P.A.: such an authentic lady, nice dress and lovely shoes.
ردحذفWhat a beautiful couple! Mathilde looks modern, regal, and super-groomed. The king is wearing a perfectly tailored suit, and I found his brave speech heart-warming.
ردحذفThis is the hair style I don't like. She is so much better with an updo or something more natural.
ردحذفUsually I like Elie Saab gowns but not this one. Why pull off something that is in itself not really worth of it and does not elevate somebody's appearance. First, the colour, while it is interesting, it is too much surface without interruption and maybe not really the optimum for Mathilde. The cape ... like Christo: covering things that really don't need covering, where is the plus it brings? The length is nice, draped on the photo - without a living woman wearing this length, the draping effect disappears, the awkwardness stays. Hairstyle: she probably lets her hair in this length to be able to wear an updo, I understand that. But she is simply not at her most attractive with it - compared to her updos, with hair away from her face.
ردحذفIn answer to your question re where is the plus the cape brings - I’ll answer that for me it turns a trousers/top outfit into a regal evening flowing outfit. Many capes I don’t see the benefit; here I think it’s everything. I think a deep red in this same outfit would have been even more gorgeous and regal on Mathilde. As for her hair, I think it’s absolutely flattering for her at this length. It also looks great pulled away from her face.
حذفWow, this review gave Mathilde's gown zero room to breathe! 😂It’s almost impressive how thoroughly it dodged a single compliment. If there were a prize for “most surgical critique,” this might just take it. I mean, even Christo got ”namedropped”, and his art is literally about hiding things! 😄
حذفHonestly, I think the drama of the cape, the color saturation, and the hairstyle choice are bold moves. Not every look has to be about peak attractiveness, sometimes it’s about making a statement. Maybe the Queen was channeling ”avant garde” royal realness, and that deserves a little credit for daring to step outside the safe zone.
