The Duchess of Edinburgh Visits Northampton Mountain Bike Park

On June 9, 2025, the Duchess of Edinburgh visited Northampton Bike Park, where she met with local volunteers, school groups, and key partners. During the visit, she learned about the park’s development, its impact on the community, and how it encourages more people to embrace cycling and active lifestyles. The 40-acre mountain bike park, built on a former golf course, is a new addition to the area. For the occasion, the Duchess wore a gabardine wool jacket by Prada and a floral print skirt by Gabriela Hearst.

What a good outfit for D. Sophie! Here’s a jacket that fits her well and is the perfect length to wear over dresses or skirts. (V.M.)

She must have heard the complaints about suit jackets over dresses :-)), very good this time. Collar + collarless shirt is impeccable too.

She looks very lovely. Now seeing this material in a skirt, I think these very floral designs may work generally better as skirts paired with simple tops than dresses. For Sophie and for Victoria.

Well I agree about keeping florals to skirts . Now if she would just do something about the long length. The two pieces at the top look simply great.

  4. I find the style and colour of the skirt a bit dull and drab. It's too matronly looking. Although I'm glad Sophie paired it with a white top and blazer rather than a matching top like the model. That's a bit of an improvement.

I like the jacket. Good length for the Duchess. However as long as she will wear skirts and dresses which are too long, she will never have a look which is attractive and in which she is looking younger as her real age. And yes she is still looking good in general, but the longer she waits to dress younger one day she will look like an old lady. I like her more with her hair loose and done by a professional hairdresser, which not happens regularly I think. I'll never understand when she is looking in the mirror and sees her long skirts she doesn't realize that she looks like an old lady (and I mean a lady that lived in another century let's say the 19th). Lately it doesn't interest me anymore what she is wearing and how she is dressed, because she always manage to ruin it by wearing these skirts that are really too long. Today it is one of the best examples : a lovely jacket, a beautiful face until you see the whole picture and gone is the illusion.

      (A) what’s wrong with looking like an old lady? (B) you say “ she will never have a look which is attractive” which I find spectacularly unfair to her - and not true either. Perhaps you’re being a little harsh there!

I think I explained enough what I was writing. "She will never have a look which is attractive as long as she is wearing those skirts which are too long." I said she looked good and wears a beautiful jacket and has a beautiful face, but when you see the complete picture she looks too old for her age. I didn't say anything about her as a person. I only talked about the way she dresses. If you find it normal that a good looking person is doing this to herself, well I don't. One must never dress to look older than your real age. Maybe you like to look older than your age, that's fine with me, but I don't. The Duchess has still a lot of time to look old. You simply took parts out of the context of what I was writing in my comment and then said I was a little harsh and unfair. I just gave my opinion You have every right not to agree with me, just like I have every right not to think the same way you do

Fabulous look from and for Sophie! The first time she wore this Gabriella Hearst outfit that it was separates--I like this so much better without the matching blouse. The simple white top and jacket are perfect pairings for the floral skirt. She looks beautiful here!

  9. That´s a very pretty outfit. Bright colours for summer, yet suited for cooler days. A comfortable skirt that´s still very elegant. The shoes, blouse and jacket are well matched without looking like a set. The pattern is too much in the dress but the skirt by itself with solid-coloured complements looks perfect. She also got the proportions right: top and bottom need to balance each other out. The longer the bottom, the shorter the top needs to be. The shorter the bottom, the longer the top needs to be.

  10. Ladies:
Complains about the jacket? ✔️ Complains about the shoes, ✔️
Complains about the length.. No ladies this is the length I like, take it or scroll down.
