On June 14, 2025, the British Royal Family attended the King’s Birthday Parade, "Trooping the Colour," in central London. Since 1748, the Trooping the Colour has marked the official birthday of the British Sovereign. At the request of the King, members of the Royal Family taking part in the parade wore black armbands as a mark of respect following the Air India tragedy in Ahmedabad. Over 1,500 parading soldiers took part in the event.
King Charles III, Queen Camilla, the Prince and Princess of Wales, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, Prince Louis, the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh, the Duke and Duchess of Gloucester, Princess Anne, Sir Timothy Laurence, and the Duke of Kent attended the 2025 King’s Birthday Parade in central London. For the occasion, the Princess of Wales wore a blue coat dress by Catherine Walker.
Catherine - what a beauty!
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely!
DeleteCatherine Walker and the princess were made for each other. I think Charlotte could wear shoes without a strap now that she is 10. Everyone looks so nice. Dear Sophie needs to wear a more supportive undergarment , especially for this style of dress. Otherwise colour is good on her and matches the sash on Edward.
ReplyDeleteIt is the way Sophie´s dress is cut that creates a look of the girls sagging. The rushing under is not becoming. I truly dislike this kind of dress design.
Delete@Anon 21:36 Exactly as you say. Time to stop undergarment talk ... Dear Sophie has a taste for dresses but not for what suits her. But!! the hat is excellent this time (and we are spared the sight of the length).
DeleteAbsolutely wonderful fun to see the pageantry and costumes of all. The portrait of Catherine is perhaps the most beautiful I’ve ever seen her. Loving the coordination of colours across the balcony participants. And frankly, sad for the family split and that on such a family day, Harry is not there.
ReplyDeleteNot often we see Pss Catherine in Catherine Walker, but it was worth the wait. I think it’s so thoughtful when the royal ladies match the chosen colors to match a regiment that are on parade.
ReplyDeleteCatherine in the aquamarine the colors of the Irish Guards plum. Princess Charlotte in a similar shade looked equally lovely,as did her brothers in their suits.
Duchess Sophie went for a bespoke Beulah dress in the same green as her husbands sash him being the Colonel of the Scots Guards.
Queen Camilla and Duchess Birgette in their respective whites looked lovely.
Lowri.
Just stunning! And powerful look of the family
ReplyDeleteAnna
Just stunning sums it up. The Princess of Wales looks fantastic, back to her stunning best. The colour is glorious, the hat fabulous and the whole outfit perfect. It’s also lovely that she looks so well recalling her strained appearance last year. Princess Charlotte’s outfit is also perfect. I love Duchess Sophie’s green dress and mercifully in these photos we can’t see her dress length or footwear! The white outfits of Queen Camilla and the Duchess of Gloucester also look good
DeleteSplendid event, and everyone looked absolutely glowing. I will be so very glad, though, when the trend of pointy shoulder pads goes away, especially weirdly turned-up pointy shoulder pads, as on the Princess of Wales’s coat dress. The first time I saw this peculiar crime of fashion was on the cape worn by Maxima on the occasion of Willem-Alexander’s coronation, and I thought then, as now, that it’s a surefire way to mar an otherwise flawless look. — Jane
ReplyDeleteWell Catherine clearly steals the fashion show today. But I love the Duchess of Gloucester's attire. Beautiful trim on her white coat to match the hat. She looks superb! I feel like Charlotte's dress, probably a Robin Egg blue, looks to pale next to her mother. It seems too long for a sweet girl her age. I'm not sure I like the matchy-matchy mother daughter idea. Give Charlotte her own color and her chance to shine. Sophie's choice of green should have been left for the fall of the year. So many spring and summer color choices would have been better, IMO. Also I am not a fan of V-neck dresses and coats. I think rounded or boat neck styles look better, especially for older women.
ReplyDeleteI have similar opinions about Charlotte. I don't see her being allowed to wear what girls her age wear. I think they will always make her dress more conservatively in public. She is certainly reaching the age where most girls have a big say in what they wear.
DeleteI think that coordinating the outfits of Charlotte was to make family photo more easy in the eyes. The Netherlands royals used to prioritise individuality during king's day and the family's photo used to look horrible. This year they coordinated and it's much better.
DeleteBecause they both wore white, Camilla and the DoG are my preferred outfits. Light, bright and perfect for this type of an event on a lovely sunny day. I am not a fan of 'Tiffany Blue' except when it applies to Tiffany boxes and ribbons with my name on them, and I find that this colour doesn't work on Catherine, for me. Perhaps there's too much blue. As for the DoE, the style of her outfit looks nice (what we can see of it) but it would have looked so much better in a lighter colour (even though it is Winter in the S. Hemisphere, so may be that's what this is all about). Very glad that she didn't wear one of those perched, extremely lopsided hat things. Camilla's hat wins the day for me and the style of Kate's isn't too bad.

Catherine's outfit is very 1980's, old fashioned. Even Charlotte looks matrony.
ReplyDeleteSophie so invisble today!
DeleteI agree with you. I also find the cut of Catherine's coat dress old-fashioned. But I like the colors in the portrait. I think it's divine! Luisa
DeleteI don't love Kate's outfit either. It fits her beautifully, but she has a look, or "uniform", that we can always count on her wearing on these occasions. This is no exception. You described Sophie perfectly--invisible. She seems to have given up on the fashion front.
DeleteYes very ‘80’s. Everyone looks nice, Dof G is the win for me. She knows how to dress with class.
DeleteI completely agree with this and in fact commented the same to a friend as we watched on TV. Sophie really faded into the background in such a dark colour. The portrait above of Catherine is absolutely stunning though - just beautiful.
DeleteI agree as well.
DeleteWOW ❤️ 10:th picture of Catherine is absolutely stunning 🥰
ReplyDeleteYes, so posed isn’t it.
The Queen: very Royal, beautifull!
ReplyDeleteThe princess of Wales: spotless, stylish and elegant, and her daughter inmatching colour, quite good.
Duchess of Edinburgh: good dress and lovely hat but a bit on the dark side.
Everybody in military uniform: splendid!! What a show! I watched it on tv and enjoyed it very much!
Beautiful colour coarseness and hat on Catherine, but the design of the coarseness is a bit too formal and stiff for a woman of 43 in my opinion
DeleteCoat-dress I meant
DeleteAgree
DeleteHi Anon 18: 58.
DeleteI too think this dress is too old looking for a 43 year old.
Perhaps more appropriate for her mother.
The color is great though.
Cate.
I like how all the ladies are color coordinated - from whites to various shades of green and teal.
ReplyDeletePrincess Catherine has a very photogenic face, beautiful hair and hairstyle. Her whole outfit reminds me a lot of Princess Diana.
The Queen and the Duchess of Gloucester are very chic in white. Sophie - who I have sympathy for her loyalty and tireless support of the monarch - doesn't have a good cut of the dress this time, the dark green color suits her but those sleeves don't.
Stephanie
Smashing Kate, Camilla duchess of Gloucester and their beautiful hats. These are the real royals. Sophie okay but dull colour and hopefully not length on her feet. Beautiful, kind and hardworking Sophie urgently needs a new stylist

ReplyDeleteI don't think that one should wear summer colours in summer or should not wear white in winter etc. Why not? The seasons come with their own colour and don't need fashion support. The green on Sophie looks excellent, the hat is nice, but we don't see everything and from what I do see: those sleeves should go away please dear Sophie. I think that the two shades of Tiffany blue (or whatever this colour is called) for mother and daughter are a very good idea. Same colour would be ridiculous, clashing colours too much when they are surrounded by so many red uniforms - they belong togehther but are not the same, this is what their colours tell me. Also, Charlotte's dress is not too long, much younger girls like her wear this length too, it is quite neutral for a girl's dress. Catherine is spectacular, but those pointy shoulders are killing me and I also find the high and also pointy collar somewhat exaggerated. The winner for me is the Duchess of G. with her quiet but unmistakeable elegance.
ReplyDeleteI completely agree regarding Charlotte’s dress; it is young but also elegant and appropriate, as are her shoes, and she is not “matchy-matchy” with her mum. Judging from comments, apparently some would have preferred to see her in a minidress and clunky trainers 🙄.
DeleteI'm probably in the minority, but this is one of the outfits worn by the POWs that I like the least: the colour (which reminds me of the late QE), the pointed shoulders, the length, the strong contrast between blue and white... it's all a bit too much for my taste... maybe a bit too polished. The hat on the other hand is a beauty and looks great on the PoW. I agree with another poster that the QC and the DoG look the best today.
ReplyDeleteI don´t like Kate´s coat. Too stiff, too 80s reminiscent, too big shoulders that look especially exaggerated given Kate´s narrow silhouette.
ReplyDeleteExactly my thoughts and opinion. As a person she is very beautiful.

I think a person can just say wow, wow and more wow for the outfit choice of Princess Kate. She clearly steals the show. In my mind she looked so stunning that everybody else moved to the background. So we try to be polite in this group to view everybody but that feels to me like we are failing. We have to acknowledge that Princess Kate is stunning.
ReplyDeleteAnother gorgeous outfit on Kate!. The turquoise colour is stunning with the contrasting diagonal white collar and cuffs and the hat is exquisite. She wins the fashion award for best dressed at this event. Sorry if I am stepping on anyone's toes but this once again brings back warm memories of Diana. I don't want her to be forgotten especially in the world of fashion because she is an icon along with women like Audrey Hepburn & Jackie Kennedy Onassis. I also like Sophie's lovely green dress with the bell sleeves. I wish I could see the whole outfit.
Paloma.
Catherine is just so stunning from head to toe. She is a beauty. Love that coat dress. The Duchess of Gloucster elegant as always. Mary

ReplyDeleteI wonder if the plain no floral choices are so that the military uniforms are more prominent . I do wish they wouldn’t be so stiff and act more like a family. I noticed they stop Louis from enjoying himself. They even had him shuffle back over when he gets in front of the king. They should take example of other royals houses, they just might movd out of the dark ages.
ReplyDeleteThis is one of the most important public royal appearances nationwide, deeply rooted in tradition - and not an occasion to show off their casual family side.
DeleteThe 10th photo of Kate is beautiful. However, her coatdress was nothing short of silly. I couldn't find the word, but I think that's it. Poor Sophie. Now, it seems that in addition to needing a stylist, she has joined the ranks of those who also need more stable/sturdy undergarments. I do like how she perfectly matched the fabric color to her husband's sash, however. As keeps happening more and more, I am surprised, but Queen Camilla again wins the fashion stakes for me today.
