On June 30, 2025, Princess Beatrice and Sarah Ferguson, Duchess of York, attended the opening day of the Wimbledon Tennis Championships at the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club in London. Beatrice and Sarah watched a first-round match between Spain’s Carlos Alcaraz and Italy’s Fabio Fognini. Princess Beatrice wore a blue striped shirtdress by Sandro, while Sarah Ferguson opted for a floral-print dress by ME+EM.

Bea , I like the blouse but can’t say I like the design of the skirt, just odd looking, like an apron on top of the skirt. Fergie looks nice in this colour, and without seeing the length and shoes not able to see the overall look.
ReplyDeleteGreen works well with Sarah's ginger hair but I wouldn't have expected that style of a dress for Wimbledon. On the other hand, Bea's lovely top is right on the money.

You said it well. I liked the color on Sarah, but something felt off. The style is not what I would expect for Wimbledon. I like that Sarah is Sarah.
DeleteNow that Sarah has chosen a dress that suits her, one must not make too much negative comments. As long as I cannot see the length of the skirt, I am not sure what to say. I also remember the time when Princess Catherine and her sister Pippa attended Wimbledon, they wore all kind of dresses. Of Bea's outfit I only like the top and the skirt not the apron. The top would be lovely on white pants, the skirt with a chic (good quality) white T-shirt.
DeleteI love the top of the Sandro dress on Beatrice; colour and the freshness of blue/white. However looking at the full dress on the model, I find the base of the skirt looks like a poor repair. There are many other ways to finish a skirt and I don’t understand the Sandro decision on this one. Sarah looks lovely and I love seeing her with her daughter, but I don’t think this is one of the best Me+Em designs, and we are currently seeing many. - Mary
ReplyDeleteSarah's dress is amazing. A real work of art IMHO. The style and design is so intricate with so many interesting details. I appreciate the chinoiserie look of the outfit. The beautiful shade of green goes well with Sarah's red hair. The dress is a sharp contrast to Beatrice outfit which fades into the background in comparison. I am not criticizing it at all because I do like it but her Mum steals the show.
ReplyDeleteBeatrice's hair was once red, wondered if she dyes it or it turned blonde!
ReplyDeleteHair color often naturally change with age.
DeleteHer hair is still red just not the same color red as her mothers.
DeleteA mon avis, la combinaison de la chemise rayée en coton est parfaite pour être portée sur cette jupe ample très rafraîchissante !
ReplyDeleteI don't like this Sandro ensemble, not on Beatrice and not on the model and not at all. It reminds me of her bright yellow dress at Ascot with those oversized blue flowers that looked like alien elements that happened to find their way on something they don't really belong to. Same with those random florals here, they does not make it prettier or more interesting. The shirt is big because oversized is in - but it is neither elegant nor casual or pretty. Sarah F.: I think the fact that she colours her hair in imitation of the hue she had in her youth makes it even more difficult to be elegant - this type of red, if not natural, is not really a good companion when growing older. Too loud. Try to imagine this same dress with another hair colour (and possibly with different styling).
ReplyDeleteI loved the yellow dress.
DeleteWith all due respect to other hair colours, we redheads tend to have the luck of long lasting colour depth and very late greying. My mother at 80 is almost all still deep red ! - with very little grey. Sarah may have touch ups too - but I would never say that a natural redhead doesn’t look elegant ! Criticising the clothes choice is one thing, but criticising hair is too personal! I like the white flowers on the Sandro dress; I think they look great on the blue/white fabric.
DeleteI agree. Someone has long ago told Sarah that she looks good in green -- but she seems to think that any old green will do -- which it won't. In fact, Sarah consistently makes wrong colour choices with her clothing, due in no small part to her striking hair colour. I quite like it , but it needs very careful calibrating, in order look harmonious. Sarah needs to steer clear of the colours blonde, brown and black- haired women typically wear. Princess Alexia with her ginger hair tends to make better colour choices, and would be a much better template for Sarah to follow. Sarah's always dark eye make-up doesn't help either, it always looks too heavy and ages her beyond her years. She would look lovely in softer, brighter makeup.
Delete@Anon 04:43: I never wrote that a natural redhead does not look elegant and I also don't criticise someone's natural hair colour. Sarah's hair colour is not natural ("with some touch ups") in my eyes, so I feel free to say something about it, because it is not a given, it s a conscious choice and it does not fit well with her fashion choices.

DeleteI agree.
Signed : another redhead.

DeletePrincess Alexia's hair cannot be compared with Sarah's hair, more with Princess Bea's hair. Princess Alexia also wears green and she looks very good with that color. She is also much younger than Sarah.
As a redhead (natural more auburn than red and now grey), I can tell you that there are 2 different sorts of readheads. The most readheads I now all have natural curls and rather dry hair. There are readheads with straight hair but they are in the minority.
When growing older I always tried to copy as much as possible my natural color. My former hairstylist stopped her business because she decided to learn and do something else. I had to find only recently a new hairstylist. Lucky I found someone who is very capable with haircuts. The colouring on the other hand was not what I tried to explain to him. My hair had the colour of carrots. Lucky after six weeks it was time to renew my colouring and together we found a new colour that was a bit darker and less ginger. That is the colour I use for the moment and I am very happy with it. I never use dark eye make-up, because I do not like it on myself. I always use soft and natural colors as well for my eyes as for my lips and make-up.
Both ladies look very nice. Wonder if this dress or skirt is designed to take the bottom part of to have a different look on a separate event.?

I love the Sandro set. Summery, modern with a tiny edge to it. I like the Me + Em dress colour and some of the details but I find that waist cut can look à bit droopy.
ReplyDeleteThe York ladies do have a different taste in fashion. The colours are good for each of them, otherwise just okay.
ReplyDeleteSarah looks wonderful in this colour. From what I can see it’s not the usual tight dresses or suits she wears that look shocking and cheap, even though they are far from it. Well done.
ReplyDeleteSarah looks great in the color green, though I am not a fan of her dress. The blouse section of Beatrice's shirt dress is nice, but not liking the skirt part of her dress.
