King Willem-Alexander and Queen Máxima are paying a two-day state visit to the Czech Republic at the invitation of President Petr Pavel. The visit will take place on Wednesday, 4 June, and Thursday, 5 June 2025. On 3 June 2025, the King and Queen arrived at Václav Havel Airport in Prague.
Due to the political situation in the Netherlands, King Willem-Alexander will return home after completing the first day’s program. Queen Máxima will continue with the engagements scheduled for the second day. For the arrival, Queen Máxima wore a new outfit from the 2024 collection of the fashion house Natan.

That’s a beautiful Natan dress. Lovely on Max. I also think the shoes are really interesting … nice to step away from the classic stilettos. I think the dress yellow fading to white by the hem makes the pairing with white shoes very well put together.
ردحذفIt is funny, these shoes a couple of years ago, when they were new, were considered by the majority of the commenters on this blog as cluncky, not beautiful, not appropriate to wear with a dress, etc...

ردحذفVery appealing dress, and the yellow-white colour combo looks good. I´d also opt for white shoes, but likely something more formal and elegant. I also think that the cardigan is a bit too low key for a formal welcome ceremony on a state visit, on a red carpet.
ردحذفAs a minor observation, I´d prefer the seam(s?) across the folds in the skirt to be higher up, like no lower than 5cm below the waist. The placement as is is a bit random and slightly throws off the proportions. Originally (on the model) there seems to be two such seams, in which case I would have omitted the lower one. I think Maxima had more seams added inbetween (to prevent puckering and bulging?) and as a result the folds are flattened down but it also results in a looking more like a dropped waist.
But this is not the formal welcome ceremony.
حذفon previous state visits she always looks formal with hat and gloves, so i agree the cardigan is below her usual standards. and those shoes do no favors.
حذفI also like the dress and agree that white shoes are better, but not these ones which have a vaguely orthopaedic look. The cardigan is okay but looks far too casual for this event.
حذفI’m afraid I disagree. IMO clothing and shoes have to enhance your qualities. Those shoes do not flatter QM’s legs at all. I doubt they flatter anyone.

They are not worser than Queen Letizia's big loafers with block heels she wore the other day. (and there can always be a reason why the ladies are wearing shoes like these).

ردحذفI like the dress despite it being a bit snug, with the sweater. I did not like the shoes when first debuted, still don’t. I feel a more open shoe is needed with the flared skirt

Considering that this was just their (semi-private) arrival on June 3rd, and not the official State welcome which happens the next day on June 4th, Maxima's dress is appropriate. The dress itself is quite pretty, but I'm not sure if it's Maxima's style, or suitable to her proportions. It might have looked better if she had worn the cardigan properly as it was meant to be worn, instead of draping it over her shoulders.

If their arrival was semi-private, then why is the King in a suit and tie? Why didn't he come in semi-formal clothes too? I think they should be coordinated. I still find Maxime's summer dress not very appropriate for a state visit.

Because a suit and tie is the way a King dresses when he is in the public eye - any public at any time, and especially in the presence of the military. Anybody who knows royal protocol knows this. Their state visit did not begin until the next day, when they were formally welcomed by the President of the Czech Republic for the first time, so there was no need for Maxima to be all dolled-up on arrival the day before. If it was a formal welcome on arrival, the King would not be talking to reporters on the tarmac.

This dress really stands out, she looks lovely, though not a fan of the shoes!
ردحذفI really like the colour – it suits Maxima. But I don't think the "Abba dress" is right for her. The model makes it clear that the that is a Charleston-style dress. In other words: knee-length, free-swinging and with wonderful seams and colour gradients that make the slightly shiny satin fabric shimmer even more. Maxima's dress is a bit tight. I think this goes against the idea behind the design.

ردحذفAgree with the way she is presenting herself. Not appropriate from the rainfall water messy hair, the rather casual, cardigan, dress thats too tight and those tacky shoes. PS wonder if my post will be printed this time, freedom of thought is what this blog is about, not being censored over my opinion.
