On the morning of Wednesday, June 25, King Willem-Alexander and Queen Máxima of the Netherlands received U.S. President Donald Trump in audience at Huis ten Bosch Palace, where he had stayed the night. After breakfast, King Willem-Alexander and Queen Máxima posed for a photo with the President in the DNA Salon of the palace.
During the photo opportunity, the King explained the unique design of the DNA Salon’s walls, which feature representations of the DNA of King Willem-Alexander and Queen Máxima made out of bricks. President Trump is visiting the Netherlands to attend the NATO Summit taking place in The Hague. For the occasion, Queen Máxima wore a new outfit by Natan.
I always appreciate unusual and creative designs when it comes to clothing.
ReplyDeleteMaxima's top is unlike anything I have seen before. The draped scarf effect is very dramatic especially when viewed from the back. It pairs well with the lovely printed skirt which also has an unusual lacey hem. I like the whole outfit and I think Maxima looks great.
I agree on all points. It’s a beautiful look! — Jane
DeleteWell phrased. Stunning outfit. Maxima has a lovely smile and the guys give off their happy smile! :)
DeleteLovely understated outfit and the hair still looks good too. Hope those who felt that yesterday’s outfit was too colourful are happier today!!

Van de achterkant ziet het er heel vreemd uit, rare cape mouwen , pruik, en veel te hoge hakken.
ReplyDeleteWig? Stop it. You are probably one of the people who are obsessed with her hair and never fail to make a negative comment. Since her hair looks very nice, you say it is a wig.
DeleteLikewise about the heels. Her shoes are not too high. They are very elegant. If you can't wear high heels, wear what you are comfortable with. Do not criticize women who can wear them.
Yes 16:16, you are right to set the record straight against obsessions, be it about hair or heel height.
Delete13:24 I agree the shoes are too high and it’s not because of the reasons 16:16 so “firmly” suggests in her criticism of your criticism. It’s more that shoe this high distort the lower leg of the wearer. Slightly lower would give better proportions in my opinion. I don’t think it’s a wig but her hair is looking thicker and more settled than normal so there may be some carefully added hair extensions?
Delete@ Anonymous 13:24,
Deleteusing a number of different languages doesn't change your obsessions in the least.
Do you realize you have an obsession with Q .Maxima's height, heels and hair ,not to mention your obsessions with other royal ladies' physiques?
Your insisting on them compulsively just proves that you yourself have issues in the same body districts
So,firstly, if you wear a wig, that's perfectly fine , no worties.
Maxima does NOT wear one.
She wears hair pieces, which are totally different.
Secondly, if YOU can't wear high heels or you aren't tall enough or whatever, please, consider that being tall has nothing to do with wearing high heels, nor has wearing pumps ever been seen as a question of being disrespectful to shorter people.
If you can't wear high heels, that's again perfectly fine but why don't you gracefully and for good accept that other women are used to or simply like wearing them?
Proportions have nothing to do with wearing high heels.
That's your fabricated excuse for not saying you dislike seeing other women wearing shoes you can't / don't want to wear.
You strongly claim freedom of speech for yourself but you do not respect others'freedom to make their own choices, including dressing and accessorizing their sartorial selections in the way which best suits their body shapes and personalities.
You see, one main point is that some people dress with personality and take their risks in doing so.
As much as they may fail in your eyes, they LIVE and take risks.
They are not just passive onlookers judging others' lives and picks from their screens all day long.
This is a substancial difference.
Some people live fruitful lives , some others just judge but do not know how to run their own lives.
The overall conclusion Is pretty simple:never judge a book by its cover.
Maxima has substance to her and a remarkable brain she uses in best way possible, bless her.
She is talented, bless her.
She is and possess much more than her outfit presentations( like other royal ladies, of course).
You might consider making your own choices in life and being satisfied with them instead of always pick on and judging others from what you * so wrongly!* perceive in a bunch of pics, no?
I love the color and pattern of the skirt and the shoes match perfectly.
ReplyDeleteHowever I think that a less fussy shirt would have looked better.
So, that's about three engagements with nicely styled hair this week!
Cate.
Maxima looks fantastic, although her normal generous smile is absent.
ReplyDeleteTrump made up for it with his glow in the dark teeth!
Deleteits the person she is standing next to, its hard to force a smile in his presence
DeleteAnon 14:59….no kidding! Fortunately the King and Queen are too classy, polite and very diplomatic in showing what they really think of that person.
DeleteIf another queen or princess should wear this skirt and blouse by Natan, they would receive bad comments. I think Edouard Vermeulen had a left over from Princess Stéphanie's cape dress, just enough to make a skirt for Queen Maxima. The lace hem and the piece of white fabric draped over her shoulders are too much.
ReplyDeleteThere’s a lot going on with this look. The blouce with a scarf like drape collar, and floating sleeves. Then the busy pattern on the skirt. Then the lace trim and elevated hem on the skirt. Not one of Maxima’s better looks. Though her hair and make up is lovely.

Gosh she looks nice in this outfit. Lovely lady
ReplyDeleteTwo interesting pieces on the Queen but I think they'd both be better as part of different outfits. The top perhaps with some simple pants and "mod" shoes. The skirt might be nice with a simple one colour knit top.
ReplyDeleteI guess what I'm seeing 2 busy pieces that fight with each other a bit. And as always, I'd like to see a break from pumps. So many great shoe designers, so little royal love.
Why a break from pumps, they make the outfit look so elegant. I you can’t or don’t want to wear heels, then thats for you. Pumps are easy to wear when you are used to them.
DeleteQuestion,
ReplyDeleteFrom what I have read The Netherlands are a constitutional monarchy which means the monarch does not exercise excutive or policy making power, which is the same for the UK. When many US Presidents have come to the UK, the Prime Minister meets them and in a summit with other leaders the king or queen of the UK are not in the picture, the Prime Minister is. There might be a dinner or other private meeting with the US President. So why are William-Alexander and Maxima greeting President Trump and posing in the picture of all the leaders. Where is the Prime Minister of The Netherlands?

Paloma.
DeleteMaxima's hair looks nice but I am not a fan of Natan's couture, Willem-Alexander and Trump, are well dressed and look very much in tune.
ReplyDeleteMaxima looks great. Wish Amalia had been there too. Nice to see the Royal Couple and the President of the United States. Sadly, the dislike even shows here. God be with you.

I love this blouse, its unusual, feminine and elegant, but very appealing to me.
ReplyDeleteThe skirt is lovely.
