On the afternoon of Wednesday, June 18, King Willem-Alexander presented the new standard to the Princess Catharina-Amalia Hussar Regiment at the Prins Bernhard Barracks in Amersfoort. Crown Princess Amalia was also present at the ceremony. The Princess Catharina-Amalia Hussar Regiment is a cavalry unit of the Royal Netherlands Army.
During the ceremony, the King inspected the troops, after which he received the standards of the Prince of Orange Hussar Regiment, the Prince Alexander Hussar Regiment, and the Van Sytzama Hussar Regiment. These three regiments were merged in 2020 to form the Princess Catharina-Amalia Hussar Regiment but had retained their individual standards until now.
Crown Princess Amalia of the Netherlands fell off a horse last week and sustained a fracture in her upper arm. The Crown Princess was admitted to UMC Utrecht Hospital and was discharged two days later. For today’s event, the Princess wore a red floral midi dress by Natan Couture, paired with matching high heels and a taupe hat.
Amalia looks lovely. Glad to see that she is still fulfilling her engagements after her accident. Lets the people know that she is well. The hat is fine but I can think of nicer styles for her. Lovely girl. Hope her arm has a full recovery.
ReplyDeleteThe princes is really a trouper!
ReplyDeleteWhy ? It isn’t that special.
DeleteShe is there while she has a broken arm!
DeletePrincess Amalia is a really beautiful young woman. But I don’t think this red dress is very flattering on her. The red is too strong and the dress makes her look bigger than what she is. I really think she needs somebody personal that can give her good advice.
ReplyDeletePerhaps she selected the dress to wear because she could get her arm with the bandage/cast in and out of it comfortably.

@Anon 18:40 Perhaps she already took the advice of a stylist who suggested this dress and which many people do like on her. What do you want her to do..keep changing her stylist until she finds one who agrees with your supposedly impeccable taste?

Great comment, @ - Anon.9:13👍😉
DeleteI agree, she’s way too young for this mother of the bride kind of dress.
DeleteShe looks beautiful. But I wish she could enjoy more years dressing in a younger style, she doesn’t need to dress as a mature woman, not yet. I think she models herself strongly on her mum, which is sweet, but does result in very mature outfits when she could still enjoy the lightness and simplicity of her age.
Lorraine (Rose).
ReplyDeleteVery lovely, like this dress. Hope her arm heals well. Almost did not recognize. the King, he has aged but still looking good. Well, when the children become adults, we don't stay as we had been.

Father and daughter make a handsome pair. Amalia's dress is lovely on her. WA's uniform is very sharp! So happy to see Amalia looking so confident!
ReplyDeleteI think so too.
DeleteI think this dress is very nice on her. Lovely colour for her. I am not sure what is meant that she should be wearing less mature looking garments. Maybe it is the hat that makes her look older.
DeleteSoooooooooo sorry for King Willem-Alexander
ReplyDeleteWhy?

Veel te ouwelijke gekleed, ze kan nauwelijks op die hakken staan.
ReplyDeleteWordt aangekleed door haar moeder, dus exact dezelfde stijl.
DeleteEn ook weer die absurde handschoenen
DeleteBeautiful young woman, but I don't think the hat goes with the dress, a headband or hair accessory might be more suitable.
ReplyDeleteWhen you see them side by side, you see how like her father she is.
ReplyDeleteGood for her, honouring the visit, even though she’s not even two weeks post operation. I wonder if like other European heirs she’ll do a stint in service. It’s been pointed out that King WA is not head of the Armed Services, and that it’s not compulsory for the Dutch royals to participate. But I’m sure it would be looked upon favourably by the service personnel, especially when they see heirs across Europe doing exactly that.
Lowri.
only Felipe of Spain is head of Spain's armed forces, the rest are not, they just have leadership roles. So it would be upto Amalia to follow her father's footsteps or not.
DeleteKing Charles is head of the British Armed Forces. King Frederik head of Danish Armed Forces. Each of their heirs have/are training with the military. Crown Princess Victoria trained with the services, although the King is not head of the Swedish armed forces. The point being, whether the heirs become head of services or not,it is respectful of the armed services if an heir to the throne spends time with in the ranks. It shouldn’t be a matter of wanting to,it should be dutiful. Royalty is more than dressing up in designer clothes and wearing tiaras.
DeleteLowri.
King Philippe of the Belgians is head of the Belgian Armed Forces.
DeleteAlthough he is not wearing as much a uniform as some other kings do. King Frederik for example and also CP Haakon are wearing more their uniform on all kind of events than other kings.
On the 21st of July, Belgiums National Day you will see King Philippe in his uniform(s). Also on 11 November and every ceremony that concerns commemoration of WWI and WWII. Sometimes on a State visit King Philippe is wearing his gala uniform. In The Netherlands there have been a lot of Queens in the past. Former Queen Beatrix never worn a uniform and didn't serve, nor did her mother Queen Juliana or her grandmother Queen Wilhelmina, etc... Their husbands all have served and had high rangs in the Armed forces of their country (except Prince Claus I think, Queen Beatrice's husband, I am not sure).
It is not the same in every country and it is something that has been done over and over by different generations of kings. I think they have to do what their ancestors did in agreement with the government (Ministry of Defense) and of what is expected of them.
Le style de cette robe ainsi que la couleur vont bien à Amalia mais à la place de ce genre de chapeau, il me semble qu'un bandeau ou un serre-tête plus léger aurait mieux convenu !
ReplyDeleteWhen you go back in the Dutch royal family, the various queens before the present king, one is reminded how chubby they all were. Queen Beatrix and her sisters went on radical diets. Who cares whether Amalia looks older or younger? Does it matter? She is finding her personal style, which is difficult. There is something very determined and touching about her, which is even reflected in this fluffy, feminine outfit.

I am sure she is a lovely girl, but she looks very matronly with the dress and strange hat. I do not understand the high heels when you have just had a broken arm operation.
ReplyDeleteThe high heels because she did not break her leg or foot. What is the connection to her shoes and her arm? For the women who don't know how to walk in high heels, let me assure you that the two are not connected.
DeleteShe has the most beautiful face. The dress probably well managed her cast and confined arm, well done to her.
