Beautiful colour green for queen Mathilde. But I am a bit tired of all the capes on royal ladies !!

Yes, the green is lovely, and the capes, well, they do seem to be out in abundance. While I don’t think Natan’s love of stiff materials generally works in dresses for Mathilde, the stiffness does work well in this coat. The design is striking.

I agree with you Anon 10:12 as I am not a fan of the caped outfits
that are appearing more and more on some of the royal ladies.
That notwithstanding the color of the outfit is lovely on Mathilde and her
      accessories match perfectly.

Queen Mathilde wore this coat and dress for the first time on 15 December 2023 to open the Exhibition concerning the work of James Ensor. The color of the coat and dress is an excellent color for QM. When she stepped on the plane yesterday, she wore an orange pant suit by Dries Van Noten. Normally they should have left on Sunday but since there was a problem with the plane. They had to wait and could not leave Brussels before Monday. I read that there will be no state banquet in Chile. I noticed that the knod in QM's belt seems to be made quickly. But King Philippe found a green tie in his big tie collection in the same green as Queen Mathilde's coat.

Seems like this queen can pretty much wear any colour, she has a complexion that helps make it so. Always well dressed but like those comments above the cape look it not the best. I would much prefer a shawl, but I understand the convenience of the cape.

I like the way the belted coat turned out with an empire waist look. Christine

I don’t think it’s supposed to be an empire waist! - but rather, Mathilde has such a high waist that anything on her waist looks empire. It does work with this coat.

Beautiful! And who else can pull off a cape as well as a royal? I think they look gorgeous.

    1. I also like capes, but I would look ridiculous wearing one on my daily life, i agree, only royals can pull off a cape.

      @ Luna
In the 80s capes were fashion for ladies too. I had a colleague who wore it. It was a hunters green cape (like the green coats for men which have been fashion during several years). She wore it over a winter dress + jacket and said she had warm enough doing so. The advantage of her cape was that it was "double face", could be worn on the reversed side.
Nobody is wearing them anymore. It would be ridiculous to go out during Winter in a cape like that. In the meantime more practical and comfortable coats and jackets in several colours are on the market.

  7. Très jolie cette couleur vert-amande mais j'aimerais la voir sur une tenue autre que sur ce manteau cape !

I love the cape/coat in the pictures where the queen is holding her bag in front of her. There it looks quite elegant. But the sleeves look odd when you can’t see her arms … (pictures leaving the plane).

  10. A nice colour on Q. Mathilde but this is really not a flattering outfit on her. The cape tie immediately under her breasts simply doesn't look good. I think most of us know our bodies and what is more or less flattering. I'd love to see Q. Mathilde emphasize her lovely long legs more and really de-emphasize where her natural waist is. She is so lovely that seeing her in this outfit is a bit sad.
