On June 19, 2025, Japanese Emperor Naruhito and Empress Masako visited Hiroshima Prefecture to mark the 80th anniversary of the end of World War II. It was the Imperial couple’s first visit to Hiroshima prefecture since Emperor Naruhito's accession to the throne. They visited the Hiroshima Peace Memorial Park in Naka Ward, where they laid flowers at the Cenotaph for the A-bomb Victims.
The Emperor and Empress then toured the neighboring Hiroshima Peace Memorial Museum, where they viewed exhibits, including those highlighting the activities of Nihon Hidankyo (the Japan Confederation of A- and H-Bomb Sufferers Organizations), last year's Nobel Peace Prize laureate. The Imperial couple also spoke with atomic bomb survivors at the museum, commonly known as the Atomic Bomb Museum.
What a lovely shade of gray/blue, very elegant
ReplyDeleteLe couple impérial est toujours élégant - Je remarque que le raccourci de la veste à simple boutonnage de Masako apporte un look plus équilibré par rapport à sa longue jupe ; quant à son époux, il est toujours tiré à quatre épingles !

ReplyDeleteI went to that museum. Everyone in there was quiet. The truth about nuclear bombs is beyond terrifying. There is nothing to say when you see this museum. That twisted minds around the world still threaten each other with this is beyond belief, when the utter devastation has already been demonstrated. I’m glad the imperial couple go to bring attention to the anniversary, but how I wish their voices were louder and the world leaders would listen with their hearts.
