On May 22, 2025, the Prince and Princess of Wales, known as the Duke and Duchess of Rothesay when in Scotland, attended the naming ceremony of the warship HMS Glasgow at the BAE Systems shipyard in Scotstoun, Glasgow. After the ceremony, the couple boarded the ship and met representatives from BAE Systems, which has led the vessel's delivery, as well as members of the Royal Navy who discussed the ship's capabilities.
In June 2021, the Princess of Wales was appointed Sponsor of HMS Glasgow, a state-of-the-art Type 26 anti-submarine frigate designed to protect the UK’s nuclear deterrent and aircraft carriers. For the ceremony, the Princess wore a navy and white nautical coat dress by Suzannah London. The Princess paired the coat with suede Gianvito Rossi pumps and a matching hat by Philip Treacy.

This outfit is so reminiscent of Diana and one of her favorite designers of the day, Catherine Walker. The dress is striking and the design of the hat is stunning. The white trim is placed strategically and in all the right places to enhance rather than overwhelm. The small brooch is just the right touch of bling. This is one of Kate's better outfits and she looks great. This may be controversial but I think William looks so much better with the facial hair.

I respectfully request that references to Diana end so she can RIP. I find the constant reminder upsetting and disturbing. Let Catherine be her own person. It is bad enough that she has to wear the engagement ring of a failed marriage. We will always find styles and colours repeat through time so it is easy to try and draw comparisons. My humble thankyou.

حذفSandra, I also thought of Diana when I saw Catherine today. That classic, tailored look is always a good choice. I believe it is a complement to both women. Of course, Catherine and Diana were their own people but they do share this quality.

I have respect for those who are upset about comparisons to Diana. I am very sorry you feel that way and have that point of view. But I don't feel you have the right to police or censor other peoples thoughts and feelings. I had great admiration for Diana and her influence on style and fashion. She was amazing! And when I am reminded of her in Catherine or anyone for that matter it brings back warm memories of all her great outfits. I feel I am giving Catherine a huge compliment by comparing her to late mother in law. حذفFor those that hate the beards, look back through the centuries. ALL the royal males had facial hair during certain periods when it was fashionable. It was a sign of their manliness, power, royalty and divinity. Beards had cultural and religious significance and were even a requirement for men of the ruling class. Times change and we need to adapt to these changing times. If there has to be a preoccupation of hair, study why the older queens have had the exact same hair styles for decades. At least these men are staying up-to-date. I hope they continue to keep their appearance relevant.

@P. the original You may be on to something. It is not uncommon for men to grow beards to mark events. There is Movember and No Shave November to raise awareness of men's health issues. Men playing sports often don't shave when they make the playoffs. It is a sign of unity, tradition, and luck. William could have the beard for Catherine, and it could be because it is so common now. I love either reason.
