On May 8, 2025, King Charles and Queen Camilla, along with the Prince and Princess of Wales, the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh, and the Duke and Duchess of Gloucester, attended the "VE Day 80: A Celebration to Remember" concert at the historic Horse Guards Parade in London. The event marked the 80th anniversary of the end of the Second World War in Europe and was held to honour the veterans who served in World War II.

I think PC hair is getting too long. She obviously wears it well but enough of the teen girl look.
ReplyDeleteWho’s PC?
Delete@Anon 23: 34.I agree with you that Kate' s hair is too long.A trim
Deleteof at least 15cm could give her a fresher and maybe even more youthful look. Also she appears to have colored her hair.Maybe it's just my phone but in some of the photos her hair has a brassy , yellowish appearance.
The idea that a woman can't wear her hair a longer length because she is a certain age is so incredibly out dated and old fashioned. Thankfully many royal women embrace their femininity and no longer adhere to old ideas that women can't be sexy or attractive if they are over 40. These silly old rules have always been ridiculous and it's refreshing to see modern women, whether they are royal or not, no longer paying attention.
DeletePC is looking very beautiful.

"At Anon 10:00" I'm assuming they mean "Princess Catherine." She's officially the Princess of Wales but she's still named Catherine too so, ... Princess Catherine? Frankly I'm just glad people have finally started backing off calling her "Kate Middleton." Any other married woman takes her husband's surname and it's acknowledge but she's often still being referred to as "Kate Middleton." It's rude.
DeleteAnon 16 09. Who said it was anything to do with her age? The phrase ‘teen girl look’ describes the style. If she was in her twenties she would still look better if her hair was several centimetres shorter. True for Queen Mary and Queen Letizia as well, though they have both now got shorter hair than P Catherine
Delete@ Anon. 20:02
Delete1. Any other married woman takes her husband's surname is not true anymore. This is not an obligation anymore. Women who work in a company, a governement service or even independants like shop keepers, etc... continue to use their proper names because their proper name is used by social security. Also as a tax payer they are adressed to in their proper name.
2. Maybe this is not the case in every country, but in mine it is.
3. As a princess Catherine does not belong to the category described under number 1.
4. Keeping you proper name as a working, emancipated woman is considered as normal today. This is not rude, it is the reality.
At "Anon 07:35"
DeleteI don't disagree with you in principle but this is not one of those situations. Let me clarify my statement since you appear to have misunderstood it, and since it appears we may be from different countries and something may have been lost in translation as they say. *If a woman prefers to go by her married name and or official work title* and people continue to use her former name and or title; it's rude. In this case her title and name are intertwined so my point remains the same. She's not "Ms/Miss Catherine Middleton" any more. That moniker/address ceased on the day of her marriage. She became a princess through her marriage and her official name and title changed to HRH The Duchess of Cambridge, the Princess Catherine. Her name and title officially changed again upon the death of the Queen and her father-in-law then became King and her husband inherited the title of Prince of Wales; thus HRH, Catherine, Princess of Wales. Again, "Middleton" is nowhere in there. Continuing to use it is as the present and instead of the former is rude. I hope that clears up my statement to you. If it doesn't, as the saying goes, "I can only explain it to you. I can't make you understand it."
@ 22:57
DeleteEverything you explain I knew already, that's why I explained in my comment under point N° 3 that since Catherine is a princess everything that I explained under point N° 1 does not apply to her.
In your first comment you said "Any other woman takes her husbands surname". This is not the case for woman who have a carreer. As long as I worked my documents accompanying my salary were made up in my own name, not the name of my husband. The same goes for social security, your pension later when you are retired, your yearly contributions as a tax payer are mentioned under your own name and those of your husband are mentioned under his name. A woman without a job her whole life long is known as the wife of and uses the name of her husband all the time, until she receives a pension = the legal minimun a person who never worked receives from the government of her country, which she receives in her own name. Like I said maybe it is not the same in every country, but in mine it is like that since many years. The name of my husband was only used when we received invitations addressed to Mr. & Mrs (name of my husband).
I believe Kate’s dress is a rewear - I do not care for the heavy fabric on top combined with the gauzy fabric on the bottom. Her hair looks lovely styled like this, although the bow seems rather twee. My first thought about Camilla’s coat was it reminds me of a velour bathrobe, and now I can’t unsee that.
ReplyDelete-Royal Watcher
Camilla's coat actually belongs to Charles. It was presented to him by designer Yahya al Bishri when he visited Saudi Arabia in 1998. Several of her dresses remind me of bathrobes, so this coat is probably to her liking. At least it is something different.
DeleteHad to laugh at the comment, "Camilla’s coat reminds me of a velour bathrobe, and now I can’t unsee that." Ditto!
DeleteEdwina
PC I prefer this look to the dress she wore earlier which emphasizes her thinness. What a nice change on the queen. Everyone looks lovely

PoW: A no from me. Once, before the pandemic, I bought a Self-Portrait dress for at wedding, the top very similar to this one, but with af pencil skirt. I wore it one time, at the wedding, and subsequently threw it out. Never bought anything from that brand again. All top designer brands use polyester today, and there are quality polyester fabrics out there. Self-Portrait is using low quality polyester, in my opinion. It feels and looks cheap. The skirt on PoW's dress is no exception. And the hair is too 'girly', the entire ensemble is off. But she has a lovely face and a stunning figure, even this eyesore of a dress can't ruin that.
ReplyDeleteAs for the rest of the ladies: QC's boho-style, no; DoE in pastel colour mode, maybe; DoG's classic style, absolutely - my winner for the evening.
My opinion, you have yours.

@HH very interesting to read your perspective on a brand I’ve only seen in photos. Polyester is rarely good, except in sports clothes where it can sometimes justify itself. As for the Princess of Wales, I think she is radiant, regardless of the outfit. I love that she has kept her hair as she wants it, I think this is the right of every human, and would never suggest to another that they cut their crowning glory. I also think Camilla is wearing here the most beautiful coat; a lovely change from her more regular styles. - Mary
Delete😂🤣
DeleteI agree her hair is too girly. Once you start colouring your hair the texture changes and imo looks better at shoulder length or so. Time to stop featuring the hair
DeleteIf you can't compete with such a high standard of hair texture and styling as those sported by the Princess of Wales, this is no good reason to dictate old fashioned and hilarious general rules about hair.
DeleteTurn to elderly royal ladies for inspiration.
The Princess of Wales is not in her eighties.
Catherine looks wonderful. I love her dress and I don't usually mind a difference in length between the overlay and under skirt for such outfits, but in this case, probably because of the particular difference in their lengths today, I wish they were both the same length - either the shorter or the longer. Her pearls and her hair are stunning.
ReplyDeleteCamilla's outfit looks bulky, shapeless and heavy but to be fair, we can't see much of it at all in just the one photo. The same goes for the two Duchesses, so can't really comment too much about all three of them.

Catherine--one big WOW here! What a gorgeous whole look here. I find this style for her hair to be the best of both worlds for her--off her face yet the back half is down showing off her beautiful hair. She seems to working on bringing back the popular big black bows of the 1980s--it is a look that works for her. Her jewelry--all pearls (all glass pearls I feel sure)--is another perfect choice. Very elegant, fashionable, and beautiful. Queen Camilla's coat is very beautiful but some of these photos do not do it justice. She does look wonderful here but you cannot see too much of anything else but her coat. Sophie looks lovely in the pastel pink and I would love to know what in the world is that thing on her wrist--if you know, please tell me. The Duchess of Gloucester--can't tell much other than she is wearing navy blue but she looks so pretty in the one photo of her. I wish the Princess Royal had joined in the evening event--perhaps she was there but we don't have photos--I would love to see her fashion choices too.

The absolute best I have ever seen Camilla look!
ReplyDeleteRemember an evening dress in Paris a few years ago!
Deleteagree
DeleteAnonymous 07:03 That is my point "a FEW years ago". I am sure it was a beautiful dress that you remember!
DeleteCamilla looks fabulous in this ensemble. I think I have seen her wear similar in a royal blue. (or something very similar) She looks so good in this outfit.
ReplyDeleteCatherine looks wonderful, very feminine and elegant. Her pearl necklace looks splendid.
One of Catherines typical outfits: elegant, feminine and ladylike. Beautiful!
ReplyDeleteI agree with you. My only point is that the necklace (although a nice piece in itself) doesn't fit with the global style of the outfit, it is too heavy.
DeleteI like the pearl necklace Princess Catherine is wearing and have the feeling it might have belonged to the late queen or even queen Mary. Very interesting look.

QC: positively surprising!Louis Vuitton?
ReplyDeletePC: hair out of her face: the best look for her. The dress is not my favorite.
The other ladies: difficult to see on these pictures, but the colours are promising!
Princess Catherine has a beautiful five-strand pearl necklace. I also like the jacket, although I would have preferred white trousers or a tight pencil skirt with it.
ReplyDeleteCamilla's black embroidered coat - not for me.
I don't see the other ladies' dresses. But the Duchess of Gloucester has a beautiful hairstyle for her 79 years.

-Dorothe-
ReplyDeleteWhat a modern and fresh outfit on Queen Camilla! Nice surprise.
ReplyDeleteSorry the Princess of Wales hairstyle is a no for me, too cutsie for me. I love her in a ponytail.
ReplyDeleteEven if one does not like this outfit very much, on Princess Cateherine it is looking good. It hides the fact that she is very thin, too thin. The other day in her wine red coat dress she looked very beautiful too, but the pictures taken from the back showed us how thin she is now. I think she had many of her coat dresses made smaller to fit again. I hope she will gain a bit of weight again, slowly but surely.
ReplyDeleteShe is not too thin. Stop judging. Discussing weight in this way--too thin or too heavy--is not acceptable.
DeleteEntirely agreed, @ Anonymous 00:25.
DeleteEnough is enough.
Someone here should decide what to do: bullying people for their body shape, aspect and sartorial choices or write something decent.
@ Anonymous 00:25
DeleteIt is not her fault that she is very thin. She was already thin before she got cancer. After these heavy cancer treatments every patient looses weight. I've seen it with my husband who died from cancer. I see it now with my brother in law who just started chemotherapy, he already lost 10 kg. I do not judge anyone. I hope Princess Catherine will get stronger and stronger again.
These days one cannot say anything anymore or immediately you are judge by people like you. If I had the power to destroy that terrible desease, I would be on the first row. Not to talk about it does not help anyone.
Again it looks weirdly uncoordinated. Camilla (and possible Sophie, hard to tell) are dressed for an outdoor concert. Kate is dressed for an indoor reception. All are recycling outfits, which is appreciated.
ReplyDeleteLily
I simply don't see enough either from Sophie's or from Camilla's dress to be able to make up my mind. Catherine's jacket is nice, the skirt is - well, I would go with the pleats, but what hangs under them is another example of a designer's "look how extraordinarily daring I am". Thank you, not interested. As for the bow, it goes well with those pearls. What I don't understand: there are fabulous real pearls in the vaults, whatever number of strands Catherine wishes. Why faux pearls?
ReplyDeleteWho says the pearls are imitations? I have the feeling that these pearls came from the late queen, possibly from queen Mary, who favoured this style. It is highly unlikely that Princess Catherine would resort to fake pearls.
ReplyDelete🌞 Virginia
@Anon 16:34, you have a feeling, I had a source :-). Just look it up in the internet. These are the faux pearls: https://susancaplan.co.uk/products/1980s-vintage-faux-pearl-collar-necklace .
-Dorothe-
DeleteI think that the hair of Princess Kate is absolutely wonderful. She looks young and beautiful as always. I love the black ribbon in her hair. The outfit is halfway formal and halfway fun which work well for this event. She is an absolute winner among the royals.
ReplyDeleteRe the PoW; I'm wondering if the pearl necklace is one of Queen Elizabeth's. Does anyone know for sure?
ReplyDeleteI love Catherine's hair yes it is girley but once in a while it doesn't hurt to feel girley. Love the outfit yes its a re-wear one that I admired before. The whole look Catherine nailed it. It is pretty & feminine.. Mary
ReplyDeleteI like Catherine's look. The difference between the business-like jacket and super feminine skirt is quite nice and works for me. Her hair is styled nicely and length of hair should not be determined by age if it is healthy looking!
ReplyDeleteI thought the same thing about Camilla as a previous post. It looks like a night robe. I do not care for it.
Sophie is my favorite. She looks great in pink. The coat and scarf are very chic.
