The Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh recently visited the Inner Hebrides to learn more about life in remote island communities and to celebrate the people, culture, and innovation found throughout the region. The visit began at Small Isles Primary School in Craighouse, where they were welcomed with a dance performance. The Duke and Duchess then visited the Isle of Jura and met with local community groups.
Continuing their visit to Scotland, the Duke and Duchess had lunch with locals at the Tigh an Truish Inn before taking the ferry to the Isle of Easdale. The day concluded at the Atlantic Islands Centre, where they met more members of the Easdale community and learned about island life, past and present. The Inner Hebrides is an archipelago off the west coast of mainland Scotland.
Love the Duchess's pants in this berry color coordinated with his sweater in the same color. Is it cold in Scotland so that Duchess Sophie has to wear a coat instead of a jacket, or maybe it is a rain coat, which is usually thinner than a woolen coat ?
ReplyDeleteI also like Sophie's mocca blazer paired with the white pants. The pants look a bit too baggy to me. She received a beautiful bouquet of flowers. Am I correct that the British royal ladies during their visits , are receiving more frequently bouquets of flowers than before ?
Cant see very much at all of the first outfit but I prefer what little I can see of it to the second outfit which is terribly drab. Those pants.

Perfect outfits for visiting small remote communities. I love Sophie’s fresh spring outfit with the white trousers. Approachable, coordinated, and practical for walking around focusing on the people. What fun for the locals. Love Edward in his kilt too. Does anyone know which tartan he wears and the significance to his role? - Mary
DeleteIt is the Earl of Forfar tartan. It was designed for Prince Edward in 2019 when we was given the title Earl of Forfar by Her Late Majesty. It’s the title he uses when in Scotland, just as William and Catherine are Duke and Duchess of Rothesay (and it’s a great shame we never see him wearing a kilt!)
Delete@Anon 21:18 Mary: Yes, I considered that too before writing my comment but still thought she could have done better while still keeping it low key for a small rural community. One doesn't have to look drab and ordinary. Edward is definitely the better dressed of the two in this instance IMHO.

DeletePrince Edward is styled as " Early of Forfar " in Scotland (his son James being the heir apparent ), hence the kilt , I guess.
The Duchess looks lovely in both outfits.
What a warm welcome they got from the locals and what an amazing visit!

C'est un plaisir de voir ce couple aussi charmant ; comme son frère Charles, Edward sait très bien porter le kilt !
ReplyDeletePrince Edward looks great his kilt and gorgeous sweater. Nicely matched. He and his wife are both wearing Scottish wools, it appears . Obviously in respect for the people of Scotland. I think with a winter fabric for blazer, I would have worn a tan or even an ivory colored pant to blend in better. Summer bottom and winter top doesn't mix well. Shoes are ok, but I think a brown loafer would have been a better fashion choice. Prince Edward is clearly my fashion choice here .
