President Halla Tómasdóttir of Iceland and her spouse, Björn Skúlason, are making a State Visit to Sweden from May 6 to 8, 2025, at the invitation of the King. On May 6, King Carl Gustaf and Queen Silvia hosted a gala dinner at the Royal Palace in Stockholm in honor of the Icelandic President and her spouse. Crown Princess Victoria, Prince Daniel, Prince Carl Philip, Princess Madeleine, and Chris O’Neill were also in attendance.

  1. State visits mean glittering tiaras and now it's Sweden's turn. It looks like repeat gowns and a unexpected tiara debut are the order of the night.

Starting off with the guest of honor President Tómasdóttir. I think she looks lovely here. While I don't like the style of the dress the fabric is pretty and she has such a charming smile.

Queen Silvia: We can't see much of the dress as it is covered by the shawl, but I do love that fushia color and her jewels match perfectly. Wishing her Majesty a speedy recovery.

Crown Princess Victoria: She brought out one of my favorite tiaras from the Swedish royal collection, the Aquamarine Kokoshnik. With her dress being so busy I'm glad she kept her jewelry to a minimum. I believe we first saw this gown at the 18th birthday gala for Princess Ingrid Alexandra of Norway.

Princess Madeleine: I'm glad to see the princesss and her husband were able to join tonight's state banquet. Like her sister she is also sporting a repeat gown which we previously saw at the Nobel Prize Ceremony in 2019. I would have gone for a lighter make-up look given that the dress is already a darker shade. The real treat tonight is her tiara debut, she is wearing the King Edward Ruby tiara for the first time and I think it looks great in her. I wish other royal families would take notes and do tiara sharing more often.

I think everyone is dressed so nicely, and the president holding her own amongst the royals. I love that her dress is sparkling white, like ice, from Iceland.

Victoria's dress: it looks like kids found someone's bridal veil and decorate the top section with cheap plastic flowers bought in a kiddie craft shop. Whatever the cost and the designer's intentions, it looks cheap.
Silvia: too much bling. The tiara was lovely and a good combination with the pink dress with spangles all over it. The necklace, earrings and brooch were too much glitter. A simple necklace and earrings would have looked better. - My opinion. - Ellie

Ellie, fun to read others’ opinions, even when opposite ideas. I absolutely love Victoria’s embroidered flowers, both where they are intense at top of bodice and how they fade down past the waist. Absolutely divine dress. My favourite person of the night is Silvia, stunning in pink, rocking the white runners - I absolutely love this combo and she may well be the only lady who gets into bed at the end of the night without squished toes ;-). All look stunning and I love how the Swedes bring out the big gun jewels for such events. The Icelandic President absolutely holds her own without tiara and massive diamonds by choice of gown; very clever ! - Mary

Agree with Ellie what comes to necklace, earrings and brooch. They look too heavy and do not match with the tiara.

All 4 ladies are dressed beautifully. Each one has chosen a beautiful gown to her style, and picked something wonderful in each case. And if that's not enough, the head sparklers are an added bonus.

  11. They are all very elegant. On a side note, I know that Pincess Madeleine is allegely, "the stunning beauty" of the Swedish royal family but I find that princess Victoria ages very well.

  12. Beaucoup d'élégance chez toutes ces dames même si la robe de la présidente islandaise est un peu fade parmi ces couleurs !

This is for me one of Victoria’s most beautifull dresses!
Very feminine and sweet, while mostly she impresses me most in informal sports-clothes!
The queen: elegant and tasteful as ever,; the Iceland president: very well done; Madeleine: nice classic, but far too much black around her eyes.

All the ladies look splendid though I definitely prefer Princess Madeleine's gown and tiara.
She is smashing, she just ticks all the boxes.
The Queen and her daughters' gowns look to be coordinated as to the spectrum of colours chosen for their gowns (fuchsia- magenta- red).
    Lovely.
I am glad to see Mr O'Neill in attendance too..

Paloma.

To me the winners are CP Victoria and President Halla Tomasdottir. The other royals ladies are beautiful too but the dresses are not to my taste. Queen Silvia is wearing too much jewelry to be beautyful. Better wear 2 or maximum 3 beautiful pieces and wear the reste on another day. Her tiara doesn't match the earrings and the necklace.

Madeleine looks incredible - perfect fit and color of her dress for her, lovely updo, and she wears that tiara so well. Victoria also looks beautiful, too, although I think the white bottom part of her dress looks overly stark or something compared to the top of her dress (I preferred the gorgeous flower gown she wore in her anniversary photos). Silvia is a trouper to be doing all this after foot surgery.
