Crown Princess Mette-Marit Attends Launch of Children’s Book Anthology

On May 23, 2025, Crown Princess Mette-Marit of Norway attended the launch of an anthology featuring original children’s literature texts written by graduating students from the Norwegian Institute for Children’s Books (Norsk barnebokinstitutt). Fifteen students are nearing the completion of their studies, and to mark the occasion, an anthology showcasing contributions from each student was published.

During the launch event, each student read excerpts from their work before an audience that included invited representatives from publishing houses and the broader book industry. The Institute’s author training program in creative writing and literature dissemination is the only one in Norway specifically designed for those who aspire to write for children.

Ahead of the launch, the Crown Princess met with students and staff at the Institute. The Norwegian Institute serves as a national education and knowledge center for children’s and youth literature. It trains authors and literature communicators, conducts research on literature for young readers, and shares research-based knowledge with the public.
