The Prince and Princess of Wales are on a two-day visit to the Isle of Mull, in western Scotland, on April 29 and 30 to engage with rural island communities. On April 29, 2025, the Prince and Princess of Wales — known as the Duke and Duchess of Rothesay when in Scotland — visited the Aros Hall community hub in Tobermory. The royal couple are spending their 14th wedding anniversary on the Isle of Mull.
Following the announcement that the Royal Foundation of the Waleses would allocate funding to renovate two community centers on the Isle of Mull, the Prince and Princess decided to visit the Scottish island. The Royal Foundation’s Community Impact Programme is providing grants for the renovation of facilities at Aros Hall in Tobermory, while at Pennyghael Community Hall, communal spaces will be upgraded and roof repairs carried out.

DeleteOf course, Catherine is so gorgeous that she would even look wonderful in a flour sack, lol — no one denies that. But I agree that the skinny pants — almost leggings — are not a great choice but I think the fact that they are considered young and trendy is all that seems to matter to some, and criticizing anything young and trendy really gets them riled 🤷🏻.

Agree, aweful pants. Does not look good. They are also outdatet. These days we wear straight, barrel or wide pants.
DeleteExcuse me but skinny pants are not really trendy and the younger generation are wearing wide jeans. Not that I like it. I am a little woman and with wide jeans or pants I am looking ridiculous and 2 X larger than I am in reality. Besides one must wear in what style one feels comfortable. What I am a bit surprised is that Princess Catherine is wearing dark colors during Spring. I think she had in the past pant suits in navy and lighter colors than black and dark brown. Or maybe they both would keep it sporty instead of dressed up.

And most of all, truly appreciating Catherine’s extended and natural smile lines in her cheeks. I note with horror the current bewildering fashion of eradicating nasolabial folds (via fat fillers, thread lift, etc) and I hope it stops soon. Natural smiles for the win!

ReplyDeleteJust because you are slim enough to wear leggings, doesn't mean you should wear them. She is going to be the next Queen (presumably). A pair of dark loafers and straight dark trousers would have paired so much better with the very neat , Scottish-looking blazer. And I suspect we will never see Prince William in kilts. :)

DeleteShe is not really obsessed with them, she has been wearing fashionable wide trousers too, but she obviously likes them ,especially with this type of boots. I think there might be one secondary consideration too: Some weeks ago, her communication people let it be known that no information about the brands she is wearing at any given occasion will be provided any more, because she does not want to be known for her fashion choices. So if she just sticks to what she likes instead of changing her personal style in favour of the last fashion, in this case: wide pants, then this in itself is a message too. At the same time, these skinny jeans are simply awful and unnecessarily sexualizing women who look as if their clothes were glued on their naked body.

DeleteHave you tried walking the streets of Tobermory? Trust me, the boots or sturdy trainers are a good choice. We don't often see them in Scotland wo while I appreciate that a practical outfit was needed for today's events, I wish the Princess had worn something a bit more stylish. I totally agree with the comments about the skinny jeans. Even on someone as slim as the PoW they are not flattering.

ReplyDeleteIt seems to be a competition with our royal ladies as to who can grow the longest hair. Catherine’s hair is definitely her crown and glory,but I wish she could take a few inches off. That aside,she looks healthy and well,which is reassuring after the year she’s had!

I'd say the Princess finds the leggings comfortable? who knows, she obviously loves wearing them. Its good to see her at this event and more importantly, happy and healthy. The jacket is stylish and smart.

Many high-end designers (which are copied by many other not so high-end) have shown skinny, tapered, straight, and wide leg designs in both pants and jeans. For example, Ralph Lauren has 31 selections of both skinny pants and jeans. A person may not care for this style, but they are definitely not out of style for any age. The trend is many different types are acceptable and encouraged, which I find a refreshing change. Women of any age should wear what they want and not be told not to wear a particular style.

Very good comment. People on this blog criticise royals for wearing too skinny pants/trousers, for wearing too wide-legged trousers, for wearing trousers too short/cropped/culotte style, for wearing the trousers too long, dragging on the floor, etc. Each to their own, unless it gives a really, really messy, sloppy, or totally inappropriate look. I think her trousers befitting the occasion as well as fitting her persona, her body type, her personality, of course. Not much wrong with that.

DeleteThere is a difference between slim pants and skinny pants. The brand of pants I usually buy have both, but in the skinny ones I cannot put legs in much too small for me.
