On the evening of Monday, April 7, 2025, King Willem-Alexander and Queen Máxima hosted the annual King's Day Concert at the Amphion Theater in Doetinchem. Princess Beatrix, Prince Constantijn, and Princess Laurentien were also present at the concert. Traditionally, the King's Day Concert takes place in the month preceding King's Day. This year, on April 26, the Royal Family will attend the King's Day celebrations in Doetinchem.
This year's concert featured the ensemble Pynarello, with a program showcasing musical talents from Doetinchem and the Achterhoek. Performers included singer Emma Luca, singer-songwriter and musicologist Shishani, pianist Caspar Vos, and the collective De Niemanders. Together, they performed nine pieces in various combinations, blending classical music with genres such as rock, pop, and music from different cultures.
Máxima looks very good. I know that Laurentien likes bold outfits. It is her style, but..

I really like this dress and cape on the queen, and also the lighter makeup. Princess Laurentien wow, quite the bold look. Can’t say I like the jester patterned pants, but the blouse is nice. Her huge earrings coordinate well with the colours.A happy group of people.

ردحذفMaxima looks stunning in this ensemble (lovely regal cape, and a stylish, intricate dress and fabric - look at the close-up photo) but I agree that she wears brighter, bolder colours better.

I like Queen Maxima's outfit. Dress perhaps a little too long. Granted she pulls off vibrant colors better than any royal I observe. But I like how the switches things up and always keeps up guessing. She's definitely not a boring dresser.

ردحذفIf you watch a video of Maxima arriving at an event, the cape makes perfect sense. She arrives from a warm car, sometimes after a long drive, steps out and drapes the coat or cape on for a minute or so while being photographed then walking inside, then hands it off to a helper. Putting a coat on properly, arms in sleeves etc then taking it off a minute later is more awkward and not necessary for the few minutes. - Mary
حذفI agree with Mary the cape makes sense, it serves a purpose. It is very handy for warmth without struggling with coat sleeves and quick removal.

I see what you mean but on close study its just the effect of a shadow shining through the transparent skirt part of her dress on her leg that makes it look like a high instep shoe. It foxed me too.
