That jacket certainly balances the wide pants. Have to be tiny or super thin as this aueen to make it work,

Such a perfect combination for the Queen. I love the top - front and back. And the pants are lovely - wide at the bottom, but well fitted through the hips and thighs. Black & white combos are my favorites. Now this outfit is a "10" for me.

Queen Letizia is wearing a lovely top in Chanel style by the French label Maje. Her black wide pants fit nicely. The white pant suit worn by one of the ladies has too pointy shoulders, which I don't like as well as the assymetrical front of the jacket. The white pants are too bulky and do not fit.The Queen, the President and the Minister are dressed all three in black and white. A coincidence or is it a style that is trendy this spring in Spain ? I know what will be the answer : "black and white are two colours which are always fashion" and I know that, but here they have made all 3 the same choice.

    1. I guess Spain is a catholic country and black and white are mourning colors.

En España hay tres días de luto nacional por la muerte del Papa Francisco.

  9. This are the first wide pants that I like, but you need to have her figure to rock this look. She looks fabulous

Yes you need to have her figure, but the cut of the pants is very important too. I saw last week the drawings which are used to cut the wide pants worn today. There is a big difference between the different ways of cutting a fabric to make wide pants fit. Duchess Sophie's, the other day for instance, wide pants were cut totally different and didn't fit like they should be.

Thank you for pointing out the cut of the wide pants. I wonder is it because the flare starts a third of the way down mid thigh?

Queen Letizia’s wide-legged black chinos likely had a tailored fit with a sleek, precise cut that allows the fabric to drape elegantly and flow naturally. The way the fabric is cut affects how the pants sit at the waist and hips, and how they maintain their shape as they fall toward the ankles. With Letizia’s figure, the pants would have been cut to enhance her proportions while still allowing room for movement and comfort. Duchess Sophie’s wide pants, it’s possible that the fabric wasn’t cut to match her figure quite as well, or perhaps the design didn’t allow for that same fluid drape.

This is a very good point. Not all garments are well cut, or well chosen for the person wearing them.
