On June 5, 2024, King Frederik X, Queen Mary, Queen Margrethe and Princess Benedikte attended the ceremony held to commemorate the 175th anniversary of the Constitution of Denmark, at Holmen's Church and Christiansborg Palace in Copenhagen. The constitution defines Denmark as a constitutional monarchy, governed through a parliamentary system. It creates separations of power between the Folketing, which enact laws, the government, which implements them, and the courts, which makes judgment about them.

The constitution applies to all persons in Denmark, not just Danish citizens. Its adoption in 1849 ended an absolute monarchy and introduced democracy. Denmark celebrates the adoption of the Constitution on 5 June—the date in which the first Constitution was ratified—every year as Constitution Day (Grundlovsdag).

    Mary looks wonderful!
I love the dress (especially the sleeves - a nice change from the usual) and the deep coral colour. I also love her hat, particularly the shape of it and the styling. At first i thought the brown colour to be an odd pairing with the dress colour, but the more I look at it the more I like it.
Princess Benedikte is the epitome of classic style and elegance. This lovely lady never puts a foot wrong and today her purple and white ensemble is no exception.
I like Queen Margarethe in full white/cream though I'm not used to seeing her in such a large brimmed hat. She wears it well, though.

The dress code memo must have said “big hat”.

Love the 5th photo with the hats. Well done whoever to that photo. I find Queen Mary´s outfit, mainly dress, dull and old.

The dress is a bright color, the sleves are puffed and there is also a piece of acessory right on the belt, so I have to ask, if this is something dull, what do you consider not dull?

I believe this dress has been worn at least 3 times.Todays look she has swapped the turquoise ball brooch that’s usually sits on the front of the dress, with a brown/gold brooch. The hat I believe has been in her closet for a decade or so. No one could accuse QM of not walking the talk when in comes to fashion sustainability. Plus she must be saving a heap of money not having to buy new clothes.

I was thinking the same thing, but going back farther than 10 years. It looks like the hat that blew off her head during the visit to Parliament during their engagement, no? Still looks great now.

Alois, yes, that’s the hat she wore during her engagement. I believe it’s the first time she has worn it again. Lovely to see.

You’re correct. It was May 13th 2004,the day her hat blew off. So she’s had it in her closet for 20yrs+.

The older generation is looking the best: stylish and elegant.
Mary: not one of her best.
The king: needs a new Taylor as well as a barber.

I am afraid I do not agree with the majority here. The brown hat and accessories are not matching the pink of Queen Mary's dress. The light beige shoes are O.K. with the dress but not with the hat and clutch.
Princess Benedikte elegant as ever except the shoes. They are looking very old and ruin the beautiful look of coat, dress and hat. Queen Margrethe is looking lovely all in white, but she should have chosen another make-up, a bit more pink and blush on her cheek and maybe a red/fuchsia flower on her jacket. She makes me think at Queen Elisabeth of Belgium wife of King Albert I and great grandmother of King Philippe. From a certain age on, she only wore white or cream clothes and she used white make-up on her face.

I think you are being terribly picky and unfair. QM looks great and all things on an outfit do not have to match. I love that she is elegant with a simple style. You should look as good!!!

Unfair ? Picky ? This is a fashion blog in the first place and not everybody has the same taste. If I see something I don't like I can say it no matter which Queen or Princess, Duchess, etc...it is. I didn't talked about the royal ladies in person just about what they worn. Other princesses and queens are criticized too for their dresses, hats, gloves, etc... I suppose you meant Queen Mary because there are 2 QM's in Denmark for the moment.

@Anon 11:53 Of course you can say when you do not like something. But the issue is that your initial comment sounds as if you believe that you are the all mighty know it all of fashion and know if something is a match or not.I personally like that she did not choose the exact beige color for all accessories as while that would be "correct" from a color perspective, it would also be just basic. This way she added a little bit of a "twist" to the entire outfit.

As long they look great and healthy. dresses, accessories etc. Are just secondary. I love the royal couple ever since and queen Margarethe and Princess Benedikte. They look stunning. Never mind how old their outfit. Queen Mary and King Frederick? I love how humble are they.
