Je trouve cette robe affreuse ! :(
Le motif flou fait mal aux yeux.
Mais peut-être veut-elle être assortie aux couleurs du drapeau.
    Paloma.

Now, now, now, be careful where you tread.
Queen Max's supporters can become violent at the drop of a dressmaker's pin. Double lock your door tonight.

Very unflattering outfit for Queen Mathilde - in my opinion. She appears to be much older than she is.
I don`t like either the pattern nor the shape of the dress - and the hat does not improve anything ...

Queen Mathilde wore this dress last year when the German speaking countries (Switzerland, Austria, Germany and Belgium) held their annual reunion. I loved it more last year, she didn't wore a hat and her hair was not in an up do. She wore an orange handbag and orange shoes, I think. The earrings were the same she is wearing today. The gems could be citrines or yellow diamonds or other yellow/orange stones. I think it is time she'd made the dress a bit shorter. It could be a big improvement.

Ca. 75.000 ( weniger als 1 % ) sprechen Deutsch als Muttersprache. Ist es ein Akt der freundlichen Höflichkeit (historisch gesehen), dass Deutsch auch Amtssprache ist?

Never heard of the Belgian region Malmédy, Sankt-Vith, Eupen.... ?
This was German territory before one of the 2 WW, I think after the 2nd World War it was given to Belgium by the Germans as a retribution/indemnity for the disaster they had caused to the country and the Belgians. If one day you pass in Belgium along the German border you could pay a visit to the region which is very touristic, beautiful nature and good restaurants.

You are right. I googled the subject and it is more complicated than what I remembered from my history lessons. After the first WW the Treaty of Versailles 1920 decided that Belgium got Eupen and Malmédy. Belgium nor Germany was asked for their agreement. After the second WW there were again difficulties of which country was getting which part. After the people who lived in these parts were consulted, the majority has chosen to become Belgians. This is in short what I read on different websites like Wikipedia about the history of the "Ost Kreise". The reality of course is a bit more complicated.

I am sorry if I have offended some of you, but when I was at school nobody had ever heard of the internet and/or Wikipedia. I found a translation for "Oost Kantons" (Dutch) and came out by Ost Kreise. I didn't know it was forbidden to use this translation.
Is there anyone who could tell me shortly what is the real story then ?
Or give me the names of the sources I should consult to learn more about this part of Belgium ?

Well, 07.05., try belgium.be for example. And, for the future, inform yourself (try good old books, which are lectured) and never trust google translation ;))

  10. Je suis d'accord pour la souplesse de la robe mais pas pour les motifs qui sont trop gros et surtout de couleurs trop vives ; j'aimerais mieux voir ses boucles d'oreilles comme des citrines !

  12. The print and color spoil this dress no end, and the shapeless design doesn't help either. On a positive note her accessory color is good.

Coincido en que el dibujo del vestido no es muy acertado.
