On May 14, 2024, King Philippe and Queen Mathilde of Belgium visited the province of Limburg, and more specifically the city of Maaseik. The King and Queen first visited MOSA-RT, a secondary school that offers its students about forty study options to prepare themselves for higher education or the labor market. They spoke with the students.

The King and Queen then visited Integra, a center that offers prevention and care for mental health, and supports people with problems such as addiction, anxiety, eating disorders, suicidal thoughts and depression. The couple concluded the visit with a meeting with the people on the market square, and a reception held in the town hall.

  1. I saw the top of the dress and thought 'borrowed from Queen Camilla'--very much her style. However, I don't think I like the skirt. Too much going on altogether-busy pattern, pleats and the white contrast. Queen Mathilde herself looks great.

Agree withh you, AnnieM, about 'borrowed from QC' and in picture 8 it's even like I see QC wearing it

If only QC could wear a dress like that, she would look much better. No zipper in the front or buttons, not a wide skirt.

You could be surprised when you put the two queens on a picture next to one another. At least Queen Mathilde's dress fits : there are no thick shoulder pads in this dress, no zipper or buttons in the front and the skirt is smaller.

  2. The fit and outline of the dress is okay, but not the pattern of the fabric. On the other hand I love her red shoes! gorgeous.

  3. Interesting dress. Different. I am not wild about the shiny material but like the (fraying?) effect at the hem of the skirt. Since the pattern is a bit dizzying, I think I would have added a red belt for the eye to rest on and to match purse+shoes. The waistline on the dress is a bit high (not just on Mathilde, but also on the model). A belt would distract from this and hide the (to me) never desirable visible seam at the waist between a bodice and a pleated or gathered skirt.

On the contrary a belt just draw the attention on the waistline. It is what everybody always said when Queen Mathilde wore a belt, that she should not wear one.

    2. You´re probably right. Mathilde´s got a high waist, and a belt at her actual waist would only emphasize that. For the perfect proportions, the belt needed to be roughly were the white-ish line in the pattern runs across, like 5cm under the seam.

    3. Yes there were many criticism about belts for Mathilde. I am not a fan of the dress, but why ... not sure I see the reasons for that, a bit old-fashioned, no ?

    4. I forgot to say, I am glad she chose the pink color one and NOT the yellow gold one.

Oh dear, what a mess of a dress. Looks like a common housedress in the first photo, then the waistline, and the mess at the bottom with a pattern and small white parts interjected. ugggg. To top off the mess, she is wearing those tacky 'stripper' shoes with the plastic bits.

  8. I love this dress on Mathilde which surprises me as I don't usually like Natan outfits.

The problem of the dress for me is the bodice. On a flat chested woman like the Natan model the vertical lines are near straight. On a bustier woman like most of us the vertical lines are squiggles which make me dizzy!
