I never understood how Mette-Marit makes designer clothing look cheap, like why wear a beach hat to a state visit!

Same! Some wear Zara and make it look like Hugo Boss, while this is always a disappointment

This is not a beach hat. Isn't it strange when we have seen Mary, Letixia, Maxima, Victoria, Kate and others in a hat of the same style and fabric we have never, ever seen a comment like this. Why not do you think? And was it necessary to be so nasty. Why commenting at all?

It's a summer hat -- very obviously *not* a beach hat. And it matches her shoes beautifully.

Wonderful Q S in this lovely colour! MM, this is not a good hat for her!

MM looks totally beautiful in her outfit of the day. The King and Queen look equally handsome/lovely, as does CP Haakon.

Ms Sandu and Queen Sonia both wear elegant well designed and well cut suits. MM should have left the hat at home. It reminds me of the ridicules one worn by Julie Andrews in Sound of Music

And I never understood why we have to be so mean. Guess we have different standards. I like MM "beach wear" suits her purse. Would like to see the dress. Looks nice.

You have a very low threshold for ‘mean’ 😂 There’s nothing mean in the comments, just humour and personal opinion

If we have to defend the world mean I guess the comment hit home. ;) Sarah

Mette-Marit’s outfit looks like a hodgepodge of items that don’t really go together. I don’t love Sonja’s stockings and shoes, but the rest of her outfit is lovely. The president of Moldova looks elegant and well-groomed.

The winner (in my opinion) is Mrs. President Maia Sandu. The costume fits her perfectly, though - if she had chosen contrasting accessories and shoes, it would have been even better. I noticed that women - politicians or first ladies are very often more elegant than ladies from royal families.

    1. Stephanie, you have noted this point well.
Ms Sandu appears to be a very discreet person. On her curriculum vitae there are details of her many diplomas in the area of economics and law which include a diploma from Harvard in the US.
She is a single woman, 51 years of age. She is a conservative dresser.
Her fashion style is very much in line with Angela Merkel and Ursula von der Leyen, president of the EU.

p.s. So nice to see a straight hem and something that’s not baggy.

The King and the Crown Prince look very dashing in their uniforms and the ladies look smart in their daywear. Seems like they all really enjoy meeting and greeting!

  9. Dès la première photo, j'ai trouvé élégant le look de la princesse Mette-Marit ; le style de sa capeline et sa couleur sont tout à fait à mon goût !

    1. Just a little information for Achard62 (Tulipe) to put in her notebook. Moldova is famous for its high-quality wines at inexpensive prices. The villages of Mileștii Mici are registered in the Guinness World Records as the biggest wine collection in the world.
But I’m sure for the “Frenchies” nothing can beat their Bordeaux.
Sorry back to fashion before I get an e-mail from Helen 😀

I don’t care so much about MM:s hat or Queen Sonja’s stockings and shoes or whatever as long as I can see, by the look between MM and Haakon, how real love looks! Love always wins! Ac

  11. The Queen's bright pink outfit looks lovely, but her shoes are a no. Personally I found the President to be the best dressed, her suit looked very elegant, love the color, not quite sure the color of her shoes. Regardless she looked effortlessly chic.

The President looks most stylish and quietly elegant. She seems young and good natured.

MM’s outfit isn’t her best - there’s nothing wrong with her hat (wide brimmed hats aren’t just for the beach, see Catherine’s at Remembrance Day for example), however these types aren’t MM’s typical choice. I am unclear if the broad brim suits her well.

They all look so happy, this takes away from a fashion page for once. This family just seems such truly lovely people and make their occasions together so joyous. Be kind people, save it for the nasty ones.

Lovely all around. I wished MM 's hat was a pillbox, like the Queens. css

  15. The Moldovian President looks great., Queen Sonja's suit is lovely but the shoes are awful. Delighted to see CP Mette-Marit in a hat but it doesn't match her outfit at all. I'd keep the hat and wear with something different!
