Today is May 17 and Queen Maxima of the Netherlands celebrates her 53rd birthday. Queen Máxima was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina, on 17 May 1971 as Maxima Zorreguieta. King Willem-Alexander and Queen Maxima were married in Amsterdam on Saturday 2 February 2002. The royal couple have three daughters, Princess Catharina-Amalia, Princess Alexia and Princess Ariane. Queen Maxima is a member of the Council of State.
