King Carl XVI Gustaf of Sweden turned 78 today. On Saturday 30 April, King Carl Gustaf was congratulated on his birthday – in keeping with tradition – by the Swedish Armed Forces and the public in the Outer Courtyard at the Royal Palace. The King was born on Walpurgis Night, Friday 30 April. Walpurgis Night is a traditional holiday in Scandinavia that is celebrated on April 30, and also considered as the arrival of spring.
Members of Swedish royal family, that is, Queen Silvia, Crown Princess Victoria, Prince Daniel, Princess Estelle, Prince Oscar, Prince Carl Philip, Princess Sofia, Prince Alexander, Prince Gabriel and Prince Julian watched the celebration from the balcony of the Royal Palace.

Queen Silvia looks great and I like Princess Sofia's blazer. Not a fan of either style or colour of CP Victoria's dress , nor Princess Estelle's. Both are too high necked and too colourless. I know some will disagree but I wish the Princes would have their hair cut. Prince Oscar is so smart in comparison. The interaction between Princess Estelle and her grandmother is lovely.

حذفJe remarque que depuis quelque temps la marque Andiata a le vent en poupe auprès de Sofia qui semble élégante dans ce blazer bouclé ; je suppose qu'elle le porte avec une jupe. Je ne me rappelle avoir déjà vu la robe de Victoria qui mériterait un peu de couleur? Je n'oublie pas de souhaiter un bon et joyeux anniversaire au roi !
ردحذفQueen Silvia looks fabulous, love the color of her jacket, bright fuchsia color, suits her well. Victorias dress and Pss Estelle's outfits are lacking in color and dont stand out. Regardless its wonderful to see the family together. Lovely photos.

ردحذفThe Queen looks fantastic! And love Sofias outfit and her three boys look so cute and natural and happy as small boys should be. I think it’s a pity that they dress and put on outfits on Oscar so he looks like an old man….And that hair, why do the put gel or whatever in it so he looks as unfresh as his Dad….Let the kids be kids. And Victoria do need another stylist than the one she has now. Colorless on her and the daughter, stiff and boring. So I think! Carina
ردحذفDear Carina, I think you are going too far. Small boys often wish to look like their father, with suits and a tie, like Oscar here. This is probably his wish. His father looks “unfresh”? Prince Daniel always looks like a true gentleman, his hair needs gel because it looks difficult to manage. What everybody knows in Sweden and you may not be aware of is that Daniel has extreme health problems. Think again.

حذفVirginia! I didn’t say Daniel looks unfresh - I said his hair does and it has nothing to do with his kidney failure. Daniel has very nice hair without gel in it, believe me I’ve seen it. And please, don’t ask people, or in this case, me, to think again, it made me sad. We all have our different opinions which I think should be respected. Carina

ردحذفWhat can we say about the young princes hair if even the king and his son's hair is too long in the neck. To me it looks not very fresh at all and not an example for the young princes. Prince Daniel's has perhaps not the best hairdo either but at least his hair is not too long and so is Prince Oscar's.
