  1. Désolée, je dis non et non ; dès la première photo, le manteau de Maxima me fait presque penser à une robe de chambre ou un peignoir de bain ; j'aime beaucoup ses cheveux ramenés en chignon !

Chère Achard62, I also said no at first photo … but as I studied the event and her with the white apron serving, I said oh yes, how fabulous to have gone in such a matching colour to the event, in essence she’s gone in a costume to be a colourful part of the event and I think she’s fabulous. - AnneLise

Yes, her coat is a bit too colourful, although it goes well with her yellow pullover and trousers. She can wear such things - her outgoing, optimistic nature permits it. I think the Dutch royal family is down to earth, just look at the pictures showing the former queen Beatrix working in an urban farm or Maxima and her husband preparing delicious food for marginalised people and serving it to them.

Yes in The Netherlands the royals are not afraid to use their hands or to get dirty (and without gloves). They always have been like that.

  4. I think that the coat will be polarizing.
Kind of looks like a fancy dressing gown to me and the color clashes with the mustard clothes underneath.
    Another good hair day.

    1. I genuinely thought it was pyjamas and dressing gown when I saw the first photo. Perhaps the coat would have been wearable with black, or some other neutral colour underneath. As it is it's awful. The yellow outfit underneath is okay without the coat and as you say, Cate, it's a good hair day.

  6. My eyes are hurting but it's Maxima, I'll forgive her. Actually the coat looks great with black pants which the model is wearing. The hair and smile look good.

I don´t like this. The coat looks like a bathrobe especially the way she wrapped it around her. Yellow is a very strong colour and when used on a whole outfit like this it is almost hurtful to the eyes.

This coat reminds me of a bathrobe. Maxima’s outfit does match the fruit skewers. I like what I can see of her necklace.

I’d been searching for something positive to say but after three mugs of tea, I was still staring into space.
Then I read your comment and, thank heavens, I found the answer.
Yes, Queen Max’s combo matches the fruit skewers on the table (photo N°3 and N°4).
p.s. Dear Queen Max, please don’t change.

I think it's a lovely coat. The raspberry red colour is beautiful and the embroidery/appliqué is tasteful. Yes, it is loose style coat not a fitted style, but this is perfect for a tall, vibrant person like Maxima, who can pull off wearing such a garment with ease, and she does. I also like that she's wearing the coat at a shorter length than the model.
The yellow outfit underneath is like a streak of sunshine and it pairs well with the raspberry red, with a bit showing at the neck and down at the hem. What I don't like are the wide trousers yet again. Thankfully the coat hides them when worn together.

Lorraine (Rose).

Bathrobe alert, at least the hair is nice, though her pants in mustard are horrible, just as horrible was the remark the semi-rude remark the King made about the Princess of Wales, Catherine.

    1. I read about his comment and couldn't believe what I read. A reigning king making fun of a future Queen consort. Seriously? And the funny thing is, most photos from the dutch family are highly edited. He has fallen miles in my estimation with this unnecessary snarky remark.

I love this coat! I get that lots of people won't like it but I think its great. I like it styled with the black trousers as shown on the model but I also like Queen Maxima's take with the bright yellow--it certainly highlights the parts of the floral design. As for Maxima--she looks wonderful today. Good colors, simple jewelry (perfect for the occasion), great hair and makeup--well done! Princess Beatrix is perfectly turned out for her outdoor event. What I like the best--the Dutch royals are having a wonderful time, their joy with these events are so evident. I love this project and think its wonderful that every year members of the DRF are active participants.

In the Netherlands people are washing their hands before they touch food and also multiple times while preparing food.
In the food industry people are wearing gloves and head covering.
This yearly event is the same as preparing food at home. I wash my hands several times when preparing dinner or lunch or breakfast.

Maxima = too much. It seems she is always trying to stand out, show off that she is a Queen. Too bad she fails miserably most of the time (hair a mess), but always dressed in the best and usually the most outlandish outfits she can find. Nice smile though.
