On March 27, 2024, Queen Mathilde of Belgium met with a group of students at the Royal Palace in Brussels, who also work while studying. During the meeting, the students spoke about their experiences and the problems they face during their studying and working carreer.
Dries Van Noten Wool-gabardine Blazer and Wool Gabardine Straight Pants
Le bleu pétrole de cet ensemble convient à merveille à Mathilde surtout qu'elle le porte sur un chemisier imprimé que j'aimerais quand même mieux voir ?!
ReplyDeleteA beautiful color on Mathilde but the pants and jacket are just slightly too big for my liking.
ReplyDeleteYes, exactly my first thoughts as well when I saw the photo: I like the colour but not the fit of the suit.

Yes, I agree.

I feel like Mathilde’s hairstyling here makes her forehead look very broad and almost rectangular, especially at the top. That being said, she looks well-groomed, of course.

Lovely green pant suit of Dries Van Noten. It looks like Queen Mathilde also wears a matching shirt.
ReplyDeleteI like the longer length of the jacket. So often she wears shorter tops or tucks them in, which emphasizes her longer legs and short waist. This suit balances everything out and looks wonderful on her.
ReplyDeleteLovely green/turquoise trouser suit. Perfect trouser lengths. Queen Mathilda at her best.

Nice color. Like the longer blazer, not a fan of the pants. css
ReplyDeleteI think this turquoise pantsuit with printed blouse is gorgeous. In fact, I can't remember Queen Mathilde in a better looking pantsuit. In addition, her hair is beautifully coiffed, and, even though there is no close-up, her makeup is creamy, and her earrings, what can be seen, match her ensemble. The young lady beside her looks very pretty too.
ReplyDeleteI'm heavily in the minority, but I don't think the suit suits the queen. With the blouse collar over the lapel, the apparent shiny fabric and the slightly wide legs, it gives me a bit of a 'Saturday Night Fever' vibe
ReplyDeleteI’m in the minority with you. Always hard to see in one photo versus real life, but to my eye this suit isn’t a great fit/style for her. (Grace)

DeleteA lot of the fashion styles of the 70-s and 80-s is coming back. Some think her jacket is too wide. If you don't button up a double breasted jacket it looks too wide but it isn't.
The turquoise trouser suit is a beautiful color, love the floral blouse underneath. The suit looks great, but I'm not sure if it is a tad too large, regardless she looks exceptionally good. Love the color from what I can see of her shoes.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful suit in a beautiful color for Queen Mathilde! I wish the trouser legs were more narrow--they seem to appear that way in the pictures of the model. She looks very good here. One thing I would really like to see with Mathilde is a change in her hairdo. Not sure what I want see in terms of a change but I feel this is a style ages her (its a style that reminds me of women at least 20+ years older).

@Janet
DeleteThe difference in Queen Mathilde's trousers and those of the model is that there is no fold ironed in the queen's trousers. With the fold the trousers legs look more narrow.
A lot of people (only) on this blog wish to see Queen Mathilde changes her hairdo. You said it yourself you want a change but you don't know how and what. There is a picture of Queen Mathilde when she was young and just met with King Philippe, she had long light brown hair, her natural color. After she got married her hair was cut shorter and the color became more blond. Since several years now she has highlights. She keeps her hair at a certain length to be able to do an up do and with the help of a false hair piece to wear a tiara. I do not see Queen Mathilde now with long hair like Queen Mary. Long hair do not make you look younger either.
Do you think Queen Camilla's "Charlies Angels" hairstyle looks so good at her age ? I suggest she could start to choose a less white color and cut it a bit shorter.
@Janet - I agree with you about Mathilde’s hairstyle. She is a beautiful woman whose current hairstyle makes her look older than she is. @Anonymous 6:37 - long hair not needed to change the hairstyle. I actually do like Camilla’s hairstyle and color - I think it suits her.

I hear what you say @Janet.
DeleteBut there is an expression that says “never change a winning team”.
Her hairdo seems to fit all seasons and all occasions (Gala dinners are an exception)
Difficjlt to know what re-look could be done.
I’m thinking
