-Dorothe-

Att.: Dorothe. You need glasses urgently. She is younger than I am but I never wore such old fashion things. My mother would not have given me permission to leave the house like that. Nothing is attractive, the clothes, the accessories, the hair, her skin. I am glad that other Royal ladies who turned 80 this week or next week are dressed more modern than this.

Hey Anonymous 14:06, kind commentary is welcome here but personal meanness is not. Telling anyone they need glasses because their opinion is different from yours sets an awful tone. Please don’t bring meanness into our normally kind and fun comment community. - AnneLise

Nevertheless Princess Anne is considered as epitome of elegance and good taste by connoisseurs of fashion .

Ava. Which connoisseurs of fashion ? Since she is not into fashion and never has been dressed elegant. Fans of Princess Anne's said it on several occasions that she is not interested in fashion, that she prefers to pass her time into the stables of her residence in working gear and with a pair of Willy's on her feet. Compared to her, Queen Camilla is far more better dressed, although I do not really like her style either.

If she prefers straw hair fine with me. This Winter I saw her only once in an elegant new coat : the red one which looks a bit like the Princess of Wales' coats.

Anonymous 16:57 - why the snarky comeback? Why the meanness to Princess Anne? Where does this bring us except to feel worse and belittled? Why not prioritise kind words and practise giving an opinion if you must, within kindness? I truly regret the nastiness and entitlement “it’s my right to criticise and be mean here” tone which is taking over this blog. - AnneLise

Anneliese- I fully agree with you . The Princess Royal is a hard working lovely Lady, complety her own Person, down to earth and not at all interested in fashion or in her eyes unimportant things.

      @ AnneLise
If I do not like something I say it because I am honest. Honesty is not always appreciated. I said I liked her new red coat, but I cannot like her hair and the majority of her clothes. I am not the only one who does not like her outfits and her hairdo but at least I dare to say what I think. I cannot pretend to like something when I don't, just because it is Princess Anne. I cannot pretend false friendly comments when it is not what I mean. I never said I had the right to criticize someone, but I do have the right to say what I am thinking. This is freedom of speech. Maybe in the future we will not have that freedom anymore but as long as we are living in a free world I will use that freedom.

What Princess Anne wore was perfectly coordinated, appropriate for this somber visit. Majority of her audience are in uniform. Doubtful she reads Vogue, nor cares about fashion. With her slim figure, she presents herself well in classic elegance. -Jo

Really like the jacket, though I’m sure it’s not new. Timeless I’d say. disagree with Anon 14 06 with her comments on the rest of the outfit. Although I’m younger than the Princess Royal, I also like the pleated skirt ( like our uniform skirts) Very comfortable to wear and, as long as worn at the right length, always smart.

AnnieM. I am not into "uniform skirts", had to wear them during 6 years in secondary school, together with the shirts, the tie and the beret.

As always the Princess Royal is beautifully dressed for her event. I love her jacket and pairing it with the mahogany-colored dress/skirt and accesories is perfect. I also love the gold brooch she is using with the neckline--very elegant. As always the Princess is genuinely interested in her event and the people with whom she interacts.

Royal rockstar, Princess Anne, shining a light on worthy causes, supporting her community.

No need for Anne to change anything about herself. I think she owns her unique, strong, sustainable style statement.

Knowing who she is, and working to highlight important causes is a very modern approach to the role royals play in many places. Perhaps not dramatic enough for some, or not trendy enough for others, no matter. Anne's role within her family and the UK is a credit to both. Anne has long been a BRF favourite of mine, along with Kate and Sophie, and I'm here to say Brava! Brava!

Rock on, Princess Anne, rock on.

Dear Anonymous 14:06, Give yourself a name, please, it makes correspondence so much easier. Princess Anne is not into high fashion, that is not the philosophy of the British monarchy. I agree, she could do better, perhaps on the lines of Princess Benedikte of Denmark. However, your remarks regarding her HAIR and SKIN are downright insulting. What do you expect? Hair taming techniques, hairdye, botox, ultra-thick makeup, you name it???? This lady is in her seventies, give her a break and think again.

Your are writing contradictory remarks. ....... high fashion, that is not the philosopy of the British monarchy ....... Queen Elizabeth was always dressed beautifully when she was a young queen (when she was older too). When she went on state visit abroad, she was dressed according the fashion of that period. As long as Princess Anne was a young girl and lived with her parents before she got married, I remember the pictures we looked up in the magazines to see how she was dressed, when she was photographed during a party e.g. She was always dressed according the fashion of the that period and according her age.
The times have changed and now we all look at Princess Catherine to see what she is wearing. What dresses and pant suits she is wearing by Alexander McQueen e.g. so that is not high fashion according to you ? You agree Princess Anne could do better more in the line of Princess Benedikte e.g. you realize that PB is in her 80ees Anne is not. Look at the picture of former Queen Sofia of Spain today, she is also older than Anne and look what a fresh and up-to-date style she has. She has also wrinkles, but her hair is always taken good care of. Princess Anne is not supposed to do all these beauty techniques you are enumerating (besides it is too late now for that). But she still could do something different with her hair, a good hairstyle can make a big difference. And above all she must certainly not use ultra-thick makeup, it is the worst thing a woman can do older or younger, but certainly when older. She is a princess after all, the least she could do is to look at her best.

The 4th photo of Princess Anne: A beautiful woman, lovely complexion, sweet smile, a grand mum, and the hardest working royal each year. She does not fuss, complain, bemoan her lot in life, but instead takes on her duties with the grace and dignity of her Mum, Queen E.
