Queen Mathilde visited Salto Primary School in Oud-Turnhout as part of the "Flemish Week Against Bullying 2024" (Vlaamse Week tegen Pesten). The Queen received information about the anti-bullying program "KiVa" of the school and participated in various classroom activities with the students. Every year, the Flemish Week against Bullying is organized in order to inspire those who work with children to create a bully-free environment.

DeleteYes, what a gorgeous look. It flatters her frame. She looks so much better than in the recent green ensemble with the large collar. The coat elongates her upper body and flatters the proportions. What a cool and clean outfit. I hope she will adopt this combination in other colours as well.
DeleteMaybe I'm a bit too practical, but a white coat to a primary school... how do you come up with that... and then sitting in a classroom on low chairs with the coat on.... This in itself beautiful coat should be worn at different occasions
ReplyDeleteIt is not of our concern why she wears that coat. Because it is a warm coat I suppose. In Flemish class rooms the chairs and the floors are clean, especially when they know that the queen comes to visit them. Besides she wore that coat on earlier occasions and maybe it was time to bring it to the dry cleaner's but QM wished to wear it one more time.
DeleteSuch thinking applies for sure for "ordinary citizens" but a queen ... does she need to bother about that ? It doesn't appear she has been sitting on the floor. Anyway, I am glad she wears the coat shorter than the model. I hope she will wear it again, several times...

ReplyDeleteQueen Mathilde looks very good in her warm white winter coat. In pictures 2 and 4 one can admire her long legs. I like her handbag by "Aigner" , her booties and her Carolina Herrera earrings.

Queen Mathilde deserves that coat. Last year she and King Philippe gave a large amount of their personal money away to help the poorest among the lower social classes. Queen Mathilde added a sum from her own money via "Hulpfonds van de Koningin" for the young people who did not had the opportunity to make a good start in life.

I love this outfit because it's totally my style. I teach at a college and wear a this outfit to work in the winter. Snow white brightens up the whole outfit. Of course, my coat has a shorter length for practical reasons.
ReplyDeleteI don't like her earrings though. I don't understand why the Queen, who has elegant real jewels at her disposal in the Royal Treasury, wears such theatrical pieces. Simple gold or pearl earrings would complete the elegance better.

Queen Mathilde always liked to dress young and she also likes modern jewelry. Some of her modern jewelry are pieces of art and made in yellow gold. Sometimes she wear plastic jewelry too. The earrings she is wearing today by Caroline Herrera she shares with her daughter Princess Elisabeth. Isn't it fun that mother and daughter can share things like jewels, handbags, even clothes....
DeleteIn Belgium the "Royal Treasury" like you call it is very small : 3 or 4 tiara's and that's it. The rest of her real jewels are her own which she acquired during the years. I follow Queen Mathilde since she was engaged to King Philippe, she has always worn real jewels when she has to be dressed formal. During her visits to schools, hospitals, and other short visits Queen Mathilde is at work, she likes to dress up-to-date and like to wear modern jewelry, especially earrings.
I like her outfit like it is today and the other outfits + jewelry during the other 2 visits she had this week.
This would have to be one of the best appearances by the Queen, she looks sensational. The pants are a excellent fit, highlighting her long legs. The white coat is gorgeous. The booties work in well as does her bag. The white turtleneck is the perfect choice. I'd love to see her dress like this more often. Modern, stylish and chic. She looks very elegant.

DeleteThe slim fitting pants are very flattering on the Queen, I like them so much more than the very baggy pants on her. Beautiful coat and the earrings add a spring feel to the outfit.

DeleteLong legs are beautiful. Why should she not wear high heels. It sounds like she is handicapped. First there were the usual comments that she is high waisted, now her legs are too long. Are you so perfect ?
DeleteThe high waisted comments are made after people say she is wearing her belts too high. It becomes necessary to explain that she is wearing belts at HER waist. It is not said in a negative way. I don't know why @MaryT thinks long legs are bad. I would think most women would be envious. If her legs to torso ratio looks too off balance, she can try keeping her tops untucked to lengthen the look of her torso. It is always a matter of dressing the body you have.
Delete@ An 06.11 I did NOT say "long legs are bad" ! I said some lower heels could be better. Please avoid deforming sentences, there is scope for many nuances ! Long legs are nice yes, but also good to keep a balanced look.
