    1. Agree. Great outfit for Queen Margrethe. She really suits the pale blue. While the matching hat might look strange elsewhere, on her it looks good!

It is a no for me. There is a lot going on here, the proportions are all wrong. The fur coat is too short, it should cover the skirt. The jacket does not flatter her, it is too long and there is too much check pattern. The hat would look better in a solid blue colour.

Ha ha. I was thinking when a queen gets to age 83 there’s a lot going RIGHT when they still get around in public smiling and dressed neatly with whatever choices they prefer, bonus points for a jaunty hat. Hardly the time of life to quibble over coat length, but to enjoy something one already has in the wardrobe that brings pleasure to the wearer. AnneLise

I agree with all of AnneLise's comments and sentiments. Give the lady some credit given her age and health.
Also, if ever there's a need to do a full matching of one's outfit, this is the way to do it. The colours are pleasingly subdued and the plaid print is not obtrusive to ones eyes. It all blends well together.

Good to see Queen Margrethe out and about. She is doing like Princess Beatrix her colleague from the Netherlands, going out and doing some little visits and staying busy in a relaxed way. She is repeating an outfit she has since a long time. She wears what she likes and feel comfortable in. I like her light blue sweater.

There is nothing new to say about an ensemble she has worn multiple times but it is always nice to see her!

HM looks so happy here. I am sure this event brought her a great deal of joy--her smiles are so big. She also looks quite snazzy in her checkered suit and her hat is fabulous! Would love to know more about her rooster brooch--looks like its encrusted with diamonds.

BilledBladet writes about the rooster brooch: “ On her lapel she wore her rooster brooch.
The brooch with brilliants, rubies, emeralds and sapphires is a gift from the shipyard in Genoa that built the DFDS ferry M/S Prinsesse Margrethe, which sailed between Oslo and Copenhagen for many years.
The then heir to the throne received the jewel at the naming ceremony in 1968.”

She looks fabulous. I'm truly glad to see she gets to experience what other people her age do (retirement). Her Majesty has had a load taken off her shoulder and she is glowing. The colours of her suit ensemble are fabulous.

The Queen looks great but I do not like the hat. I don´t mind it being checkered, it is the style that bothers me. I would love to see her wearing a softer looking hat.
