Queen Camilla attended the event 'Celebration of Shakespeare’ held as a meeting of fans of the playwright’s work. Among the guests were stars of stage and screen, authors, directors, and representatives of the National Theatre and The Royal Shakespeare Company.
At the event, Queen Camilla spoke with the guests including Dame Eileen Atkins, Baroness Floella Benjamin, Dame Judi Dench, Dame Penelope Keith, Dame Twiggy Lawson, Dame Joanna Lumley, and Dame Virginia McKenna.
Queen Camilla visited Kindred Studios’ Shepherds Bush pop-up hub, which is an art studio and a creative space encouraging arts, crafts and community cohesion. While touring the Studios, the Queen met local artists, from painters and ceramicists to textiles and fashion designers, and also bursary recipients who have been supported by Kindred Studios.

It’s just sooooo delicious and soooooo British.
You know, sometimes I almost wet my pants laughing or the neighbours start banging on the wall as I’m making too much noise.
The programmes are a good, natural anti-depressor.

حذفWhat wonderful photos of Queen Camilla with the Grand Dames. The ones in the front, Judi Dench is in some photos, are in their 80s and 90s, the ones at the back mere youngsters in their 70s. The green velvet dress is a great choice among the theatre royalty

حذفWhat an unkind comment Anonymous 25/2/24 17.00. Some of these ladies are of considerable age, many still acting, I saw Penelope Wilton as the lead in a play last month, wonderful performance. I think they look lovely and express their individuality through their clothes from chic to avant garde.

Not the whole world is interested in their performances. Every country has their own stars. I recognize only a couple of names, all the others never heard of them. Maybe some of them acted in series I followed on television but who they are, frankly I could not tell you. Only people who are studying the English language have to know everything about Shakespeare. These days students are more interested in science, engineering, technology, economy, finance,......
حذفI beg your pardon, Anonymous 06:50! Shakespeare is universal! I do work for technology myself (including information technology) and I can tell you that there is no "literature OR technology". Every human being needs BOTH, the technical things AND arts!
حذف@ Coralie. Yes but Shakespeare is not the only one and the performers are not all of big interest outside Britain. I am not young any more but in Secondary School, for the lessons of "Literature history", I just had to know who Shakespeare was and remember some titles of his most famous plays. That is all. Young students who are studying pure and applied sciences do not have to study this anymore. Only these who are following Classic studies, like ancient Greek or Latin. I know that information technology is needed in all fields of education. But when you have to study hard on Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Engineering, etc... You do not have the time to study also ancient writers unless you wish to specialize in that matter, but then you only have to focus on literature, languages, history, .... and not on scientific and technical matters. You can't be a specialist in both.
