  3. We cannot see the coat properly, so NO opinion; I like the dress for this event. I am very sceptical about the black summer shoes worn with the coat.

With a classic camel coat almost no one can do wrong.

  4. The hair styling doesn't deserve a comment actually, except to say worse than any other styling we read about...

Princess Astrid hairstyle is almost always the same, a bit shorter or a bit longer. There is nothing wrong with it. She is client at the Brussels haute coiffure salons.

I like it that she is embraced by Hadja Lahbib, Belgian minister of Foreign Affairs who accompanies Princess Astrid always when she is on an Economic Mission abroad. on behalf of her brother King Philippe. They did several missions together and became good friends I presume.

I cannot remember when I saw this dress for the 1st time. I wonder if Princess Laurentien doesn't have the same one. Or I saw Princess Astrid with the dress before.

Kind of flag dressing for the occasion, but I don't like this ... imo too much for this event. Dress itself is nice (believe queen Maxima owns one in a different colour), but somehow I picture it more during an outdoor event or in a warmer climate

You are right Queen Maxima does have the same dress in the same colors. She wore it during a trip to Morocco for the UN. She got bad critics too. I agree it is a dress to wear in a warmer climate.

Dress--absolutely not, it is way too busy with that overwhelming mix of colors and patterns. Astrid is always nice to see.

    1. From what I’ve seen of Princess Astrid over the years, she seems to wear only top designer name dresses, outfits, accessories etc.
But she doesn’t wear them well.
It’s a bit like the proverb “the habit doesn't make the monk”..
A pity and it goes to prove that it’s not just money and top names that will get you the “WOW” vote.
However, Princess Astrid gets good marks for the help she gives to her brother (King Philippe).

Princess Astrid did wore beautiful outfits by Chanel i.e. in the past and she wore them well. It were very classic and expensive clothes.
The last years however Princess Astrid tried to wear more up-to-date clothes especially during the economic missions abroad. We were not used to see her like that. She also abandoned a bit her classic style and went for a little bit more extravagance. Now and then she returns to her old classic style like with the Gucci dress during her economic trip to Australia last year. One must not forget she is not very young any more and had health problems a few years ago. But since the last two years she is full of energy again.

Princess Astrid, it is nice to see her, however the dress does not fit the occasion, and I cannot think of any occasion where it might work, sad to say. Edwina
