Just like every year, on December 11, 2023, the Belgian Royal family released a new family photo before Christmas. The photo shows together King Philippe, Queen Mathilde, Crown Princess Elisabeth, Prince Gabriel, Prince Emmanuel and Princess Eleonore, and was taken by photographer Bas Bogaerts at the Royal Palace of Laeken.

DeleteThe picture has been taken in September before the children went back to their respective schools, university, military academy,..... otherwise they couldn't take a picture anymore before Christmas. If you have grown up children it becomes difficult to have them all together to take a family picture. By the way Queen Mathilde lost weight recently that's why she can repeat her older dresses again.

DeleteMathilde's bright red dress is simply wrong among the muted colours in the photo. It is so bright it hurts the eyes, and something softer would have blended in with the colours others are wearing. - Ellie

DeleteThe comment looks for lice in my view. If the three ladies were all wearing muted colors, comments would be "it is missing some bright color'. There were many positive comments about Qn Mathilde's dress when she wore it earlier, far from 'hurting the eyes'.
DeleteI also think that Mathilde's bright colour dress seems out of place in this photo. Worn on it's own it's fine, but worn amongst muted colours such as the others are wearing, it stands out more than it should in a group.

ReplyDeleteI agree. The red dress tells us it is a Christmas family picture. It is just good that QM has chosen a red dress to bring contrast in the picture. Otherwise it would have been a boring photo.
